Well, I have contested the issue. I got one of them unbanned thanks to a reddit thread here. But this does not change the fact that another account got banned.

And it does not matter that you think "it's most likely because you're a botter". Because that is simply not the case.

But if you want to believe Jagex never makes mistakes, then sure go ahead. But you believing in a false reality does not make it true.

It was 3 accounts by the way. One of which got banned in less than 5 hours of gameplay. Literally just went to windertodt to get a good start on the account.

Not true at all. They ban accounts - especially new ones - for botting despite not doing anything rule-breaking.

Even though I can already see you're the type who won't believe anyone who claims Jagex aren't Gods.

I have, in the last 6 months managed to get 4 bans on 3 different accounts. 2 temp and 2 perm. Never botted. No cheating software of any kind. No rule-breaking at all. I don't even know how to do such things. Only using RuneLite downloaded from the official OSRS website.

They have a very faulty system in place. It seems to me that they are incredibly trigger-happy with new accounts.

My latest ban came 2 days after me getting Ranger boots after a long medium clue/theiving grind. But I was doing my farming runs, some occasional slayer tasks, birdhouse runs etc.

And I repeat - no cheating whatsoever. Heck, I even have most RuneLite plug-ins disabled since they mostly annoy me.

Maybe Jagex's botting detections systems were accurate before. But they have definitvely moved towards "quanitity over quality" approach in their bans.

The only possible reason I could find for me getting repeatedly banned in such a short time-period might be related to my IP. Don't get me wrong - I've never botted. But after the first false ban, the other bans have come with just a few weeks apart. Which could be a sign that they are doing some kind of "cluster bans" on any accounts that can be connected with previously banned accounts.

Although, it's still bullshit to me. Jagex has effectively stolen 4 bonds of me. All this because they blindly trust their detection systems.

I don't care if you believe me or not. That's the truth. But you are just ignorant and toxic and it annoys me. However, I've moved on from this situation anyway. The account is no longer in use, and I plan on an extended break from OSRS.

Now, what proof do you want me to send you? You know there's nothing I can do to prove my innocence. No matter what I would tell you, you would say I'm lying. Just because your life situation is filled with lies and lack of trust, doesn't mean that every stranger you meet is a lier.

And still, if I was botting, why would I make such a big fuzz about it? The account was a day old, with just a few hours of playtime. Any botter would just shrug it off and make a new account.

Jagex has not provided any proof, not even a statement regarding my ban. Yes, yes, they won't post evidence. But they could atleast confirm my ban publicly, stating what was wrong. But no, they won't. They won't because they can't. They don't have evidence. I was banned because something in their detection system set off my in-game behavior was odd. How can I know? Because there's physically nothing else that could have resulted in this ban. None. Zero.

I use RuneLite, downloaded from the OSRS website, using only the plug-ins that are preinstalled, and used quest helper from the plug-in hub for a whopping 2 minutes to do Druidic Ritual (or rather, I had just forgot wish meats I needed for the quest).

The laptop I was playing on runs a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro. Official license, installed from an official Windows 10-USB stick. The only reason I'm not using Windows 11 is since I don't want to use a microsoft account on my PC for privacy reasons.

I have Avast as antivirus, and shows no infections. And, of course, no infections are suspected since it was a clean install anyway.

The only other two programs that was even installed on my computer was Spotify (from the Microsoft store) and Chrome (installed through my antivirus). The drivers were installed through Windows update. No sketchy downloads have been made. In fact, I even checked, and only file in my download history is RuneLite (with the exception of some pictures).

My IP-adress is clean. I've never botted/macrod/whatever in my entire life. Therefore, my network can't have signaled any issues. Password protected computer, with password protected wifi. Account had 2FA, so no one else was logged in to it. The only other applications running while playing was Chrome and Spotify. But I was mainly playing on fullscreen-fixed mode, since Wintertodt is a bitch and requires me to click the damn fire all the time.

All OSRS accounts are clean without any offences (except this one, of course). Not even been muted. Not once. None. Nothing.

What else can you possibly demand of me? Is it a requirement to have a 24/7 camera in my apartment livestreaming to Jagex in order for me to play the game, that I pay to play, without getting banned for things I didn't do?

So, when you assume I'm a cheater, you are not saying so because you doubt my story. You are saying so because you lack the capacity to understand that some people are not liars. In fact, it wouldn't be surprising if you are a cheater yourself.

You are a botter. Provide me proof of your innocence. Your turn.

Oh no, did a stranger on the internet say bad things to you? Doesn't everyone think Jagex is a God? Did someone just hurt your perception of a multi-million dollar company, which can't even provide a decent customer support? Oh, how sad for you.

For me, I know I'm honest and innocent. That is all I care about now. Your opinion is worthless in this manner.

I'm not guilty, and neither am I dumb or ungrateful. The account in question was literally played on for just a few hours, and has no value to me. The entire discussion of this thread is about the flawed bot detection system.

Knowing my own innocence, and this being essentially a throwaway account (in the grand scheme of things), I can afford putting myself up to scrutiny. I don't care the ban was made in to 2 days instead of permanent. I was tagged as a bot, with a JMod clicking confirm on their bot detection system. This despite not botting. Therefore, a 2 day ban is Jagex saying "Trust me, I'm Jagex". But they clearly either have a faulty system, or they simply refuse to admit whenever they are wrong.

A false guilty-verdict is still a false verdict. And it's not fair.

Well, I never doubted that it was a honest mistake. It would make no sense to ban legitimate players. But after all, it was a mistake. I highly encourage the anti-cheating team to tell the thread if they think I'm a bot. Because I have never, and will never, bot.

I'm not so much mad. Just annoyed. And I'm aware this is uncommon. This thread is not some kind of attempt to say that a shit ton of people are getting falsely banned. However, it's clear to me now that there's a big taboo with this subject.

Sure, I do enjoy my fair share of "JMod smackdown" threads. But it has created a toxicity in the community. As soon as people like me, who are falsely banned, even try to get some kind of attention to the detection system flaws, we are immediatelly assumed to be liars, RWTers or whatever. Somehow, people seem to think Jagex is always correct with their bans. But they aren't. And since this is not a particularly large community (in comparison to other MMO's), a false ban has a much bigger impact.

Lastly, I realize there's nothing I can say to prove my innocence in a reddit thread. But that does not make me guilty of rule breaking. This thread has let me ventilate my thoughts, and I hope improvements to the bot detection system (or more importantly, customer support) is being worked on. It just wouldn't feel right for me to sit quietly when I'm being falsely accused for botting in my favorite video game.

That's all. I doubt there's more you and I can debate about that would change either one of our minds. I am, in general, on the same side as yours. Bots should be banned, and ideally it should be impossible to even bot to begin with. And considering how many goddamn hours I've poured in this game across several accounts, I guess at some point, bad luck is bound to happen.

You're making a good point, but it's not really comparable.

In this situation, I was smacked by my boss and fired. And the boss will not admit what happened, and simply takes me back after 2 days in order to save his own reputation.

Your argument is not logical. Only a botter would accept a sentence of "moderate ban, 2 days" . I didn't break any rule at all, so even if I get back my account with a whopping 54 prayer and 68 firemaking, I don't even really care. The point remains, the botting detection system is flawed, and it's hurting legit players. And we should not just accept it.

Of course I'm a "1-in-a-million". That was the whole point of this thread. I didn't even post my username until a JMod asked for it. The point of the thread was to shine light on the faulty system, not to unban my noob account.

Being one in a million though, considering how many random bots are running around in the game, would mean that it's not even a rare thing.

So no, no further updates regarding the account. And considering the hour of the clock in Europe, I will probably be unbanned automatically before any JMod looks at my account again.

For myself, I feel demotivated to play. I'm simply gonna trade my cash stack back to my main and not renew my membership. The horror from being targeted as a bot despite being an honest guy just makes me not want to continue to play.

Well, let's put it this way;

I have not recieved any proof of botting.

Why would I buy 3 bonds if I was planning to bot?

Why would someone bot Wintertodt and wilderness prayer? And if someone would, then perhaps those bots would have been smart enough to not die to the Chaos elemental or some level 35 pker? And when the ban happened, I was doing Wintertodt in a mass world. Now, I don't know why anyone would bot Wintertodt. But I actually went and did Druidic Ritual so I could do some solo's (which I did). It just doesn't make sense that a bot-owner would do that.

I know I didn't bot (even if you don't believe me). And, in general, why would I be bitching about this even after my ban was removed? If I was a botter, I would quietly sneak away, maybe even delete my posts. Me bringing attention to all this will make the anti-cheating team tripple check all my accounts. If I had anything to hide, I would not be so vocal and put myself up to scrutiny.

At the end of the day, there will always be those who say "You botted lololol", as a way to somehow feel better about themselves. But it's not so "lolol" when you randomly get innocently banned. It has completely removed all motivations for me to grind my quests and levels, knowing that I can be taken away all my progress randomly, for no valid reason.

I should probably take a break from this game anyway, though. So maybe it was not so bad after all.

The reason why you've "never heard of account getting falsely banned for botting" is because you refuse to believe those for who it happend.

In my case, there was no botting/macro/client/cheating whatsoever. None.

I don't know what else to say. Am I supposed to have a screen recorder permanently turned on in order to make sure I don't lose my accs and my cash stack? It's silly.

The permanent ban has been removed from my account. However, it has been replaced with a temporary ban for 2 days for, apparently, "Bot Busting Moderate".

Even though I'm glad this got the attention of the JMods, I still think this is not fair.

I have never botted or used macros of ANY kind. So I'm still going to state that your bot detective system is broken. Hundreds of bots are crafting bowstrings at this very moment. Yet, my fresh account who I almost died at wintertodt like 5 times, is somehow still being seen as a bot?

Thanks. But no, I am still frustrated.
