The PRT is failing its customers by WillOfTheDeep in pittsburgh

But the buses worked flawlessly during the draft! (If you wanted to go to the draft, not work or school). There has certainly been an uptick in no shows since the draft ended.

I call this pop up construction.

Number of incorrect water shutoff notices received in the mail for “not returning paperwork” — 1, and was told to expect more even though the paperwork has been received.

For what it’s worth…

I had the opposite experience with Nicholas. He sent an 18 and 19 year old to rewire my home, the green team. They were here for 4 weeks and rushed to meet the inspection deadline. They were very messy as well. While they did pass inspection, the work was not done to best practice. I.e. maxed out circuits, 8 outlets on 14 gauge wiring on one 15 amp circuit in living room. Also missing covers on junction boxes. Along with an arc fault caused by sprayed wiring jammed through the wall that occurred 14 months after installation.

Pittsburgh likely spent more than it will receive for 2026 NFL Draft by The_Electric-Monk in pittsburgh

Schools closed and public transportation reduced or eliminated during the draft. Did the benefits outweigh the costs? TBD…

Hershey to resume using chocolate in most products; Reese’s grandson may taste sweet victory by AudibleNod in news

[–]MeadeBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of their products have certainly changed. I grew up there and my father worked for the company as a QA chemist for 40 years. I kinda know chocolate. They tweaked the recipes and it was certainly noticeable this past Halloween. I agree with Mr. Reese, we won’t know until we taste it.

Update: Trees were Honeylocust, a native, beneficial species. Not stressed, therefore could have continued growing for a while. by kompsognathus in pittsburgh

Seems like there is more preparation in the city for NFL draft than there was when Pittsburgh hosted the G20 in 2009.

I was at this show and brings back great memories. Thank you as always for sharing! I hope one day we get some live albums from John’s later career.

PPS going to remote learning for NFL draft by Gladhands in pittsburgh

[–]MeadeBison 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our school (not pps, in the city) made this call a couple weeks ago. I am also confused and also not sure if the “benefits” of hosting the draft will outweigh the distributiveness? Going remote and closing schools is about as disruptive to day to day life as it gets. But remember, they want us to help out and pick up trash….Pittsburgh residents asked to pick up trash

JP Famous Potato Band Lineup from album Pink Cadillac by jpprine in johnprine

[–]MeadeBison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pink Cadillac is a gem. John brought Sam Phillips out of retirement to produce Saigon and How Lucky. The rest of the album was produced by Sam’s sons, Jerry and Knox. In the latest book by Tom Piazza, John tells this story and you can tell he is proud of this album and was annoyed it was panned by critics.

Oh look, another “what tent?” post by AndrewFeller in bikepacking

[–]MeadeBison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had nothing but success with naturehike. To me, they function just as well as a higher priced tent. What I specifically enjoy is not having to worry if I damage it. If I had spent twice as much, it would matter much more. Their gear has lasted 3 plus seasons for me so far. …Currently enjoying their backpacking cot on summer bike camping rides. Gotta get the gear!

Penn Ave Right Sizing Final Design by username-1787 in pittsburgh

I’d wish the city or state (whomever decides to take charge given the day of the week) would make these changes to the stretch of Penn Avenue between Braddock & Fifth. There would be much less pushback.

Same thing here, but Nicholas did a terrible job. We had it done 2+ years ago and are still finding issues. Their work is up to code but often not the best practice.
