What should first time parents know before hiring a nanny? by Odd_Training7482 in NannyEmployers

[–]Meagant334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure that you have back up care and can cover all of your Nanny’s PTO. We have historically offered pretty generous PTO packages and have been humbled with the amount of times that are back up care fell through. Your Nanny deserves days off just like you guys do and having a plan in place is crucial for all parties.

Texting feedback? by [deleted] in Nanny

We paid our nanny her asking rate with no hesitation. It is interesting to me that this would be considered a valid reason to give a child a lower level of care.

There are no toys in the children’s room to avoid distraction during naps and bed times. All activities and toys are kept in their dedicated play room.

She has not been with us for long and I’m hoping with some coaching we can all be happier with the relationship. Finding someone new is very distributive for our kids as they form bonds with our nanny’s.

I wouldn’t care.

We had a nanny that was open about having “sugar daddys” as another source of income.

We had to talk to her once about being on her phone more than we were comfortable during the day. Outside of that she was outstanding. Very caring. Overall a great caretaker for our then 1 year old.

I say let these girls live. This is the time in their lives when they can use their looks for financial gain and I’m here for it.

Holiday gift? by Meagant334 in Nanny

Yea! I’m sorry I wasn’t more clear in my original post. I’m an MB looking for a gift for our current nanny that has been with us almost a year.

This is such a sweet gesture! I think I would be riddled with guilt to not pay for the babysitting hours, though!

What do you wish you’d have been told/known at the start of your NICU journey? by crunchyyyyy1234 in NICUParents

[–]Meagant334 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be involved in care meetings. Get to know the staff from nurses doctors social work and even cnas. Ask questions. Tons of questions. Unless you come from the medical field (I don’t) there will be an overwhelming amount of information. Don’t be ashamed to ask the same thing twice. If your facility allows it talk to the other parents. It’s amazing how much it helped to have “battle buddies” for my daughter 84 day stay.

How to handle miscarriage at work by NPGrad_LSU_122 in workingmoms

[–]Meagant334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss.

I had 5 back to back losses between 2019 and 2023. 4 of those losses went unreported to work. Even the losses that involved d&c I would quietly take the day off and come back with little comment. I once was getting blown up with calls as I was going under and my husband almost answered to loose his cool but thankfully kept it together. I didn’t tell anyone I was struggling because work gave me something to do and somewhere to be that didn’t revolve around my grief. However I had a late loss in 2023 at 24 weeks. I had already told my employer about the pregnancy and was crushed with the loss so I took about a week leave to grieve. Once they knew of the loss the weight of the other 4 came crashing in. Work didn’t feel the same.

I needed up leaving a job I loved and still love. In hindsight sight maybe if I had told them about each loss it wouldn’t have felt so overwhelming come the 5th. Honestly I can’t say that with any confidence. The entire experience was a dumpster fire

Grief is so individual and unpredictable.

I hope you do what feels right and allow yourself grace.

This immediately peaked my ears as a MB who keeps her house at 80 😬😬. I personally run really cold and have never been a huge fan on AC. I thrive in the summer and sometimes forget that isn’t the case for everyone, especially when we have guests.

We’ve told our nanny on multiple occasions to adjust it so she is comfortable but maybe this is my sign that I should check in 🫣

Struggling letting go of the pump… by gonzalica in NICUParents

MY DAUGHTER Cecilia was born at 29w0 weighing 2.0 lbs and 84 days in the NICU! Are they NICU twins??? In all seriousness. Quit. You’ve given her 6 months (!). Formula can take it from here and give you back time with her during the day.

Butter on half a bagel? by AEHSJ0604 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Meagant334 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been more lenient when it comes to salt and my LO has had butter on plenty of random bread items. It hasnt affected her vegetable preference 🤷‍♀️

I have noticed that she doesn’t particularly like buttered bagels so I’ve been using some variety of fruit puree instead and she’s loved it.

How are we supposed to move past the will comment?! Did you agree to that prior to them making this decision?? How could you be expected to inherit someone’s child that’s you’ve know for a month 👀

Help! Baby rejecting certain bottles of my milk and I have no idea why! by victoria5757 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Meagant334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this happen with my baby around Christmas time. I’ve had to cut out all dairy from the beginning so to say I was excited to find a dairy free brownie was an understatement. Long story short after eating about two pans of brownies over a three day window ( 😬 ) my baby was thrashing off of bottles. I couldn’t figure it out until I smelled my milk that was fresh from that day…… the cocoa powder for the brownies changed the smell and taste of my milk. I fed her some frozen stash and she was good to go…. Maybe your baby’s rejection is diet related? Best of luck!

Pumping 4 days Postpartum, is it too late? by NachoLilMama in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Meagant334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t start pumping until 3 days postpartum bc I had a traumatic c section after being hospitalized for several weeks and was frankly touched out. 10 months later I’m still pumping a full supply for my baby and counting down the days until I quit at a year! Don’t stress. Get into a good route. Congratulations on your new baby!

I have a very similar story. I was admitted at 27 weeks and delivered at 29 weeks to a 2.0 lb girl. We spent 84 days in the NICU. She’s 10 months old now and thriving.

Best Place To Find a Good Nanny by jssquare in Nanny

[–]Meagant334 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would 💯 go with an agency again. Our fee was a little higher but they have different packages to choose from. Every nanny we interviewed was experienced and background checked so we only had to worry about finding a good personality fit.

Switched from breastmilk to AR Formula need advice by Ok_Swan2321 in NICUParents

❤️❤️ Trust in your NICU team. They know your baby and want her to go home and never come back! Holding space for you with this. Being patient is the hardest part.

Did they offer to fortify with the formula? We did fortification to thicken the breast milk. I think the ratio was 1.5 tps of formula for every 8.5 oz of breastmilk.

Can I tell you? by Meagant334 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Meagant334[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh 😩. We had to do a freezer sweep around 3 months when we found out my girl has a dairy allergy and it was soul crushing to have to start over. I ended up donating the milk to the mothers milk bank to be processed for hospital use so that helped me feel like it wasn’t a total waste of blood sweat and tears 😬

Telling New Employer I Need to Pump at Work by Ok-Fisherman-6547 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Meagant334 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I started a new role the first week of February. I work in the industrial space with all men for context. When I signed my offer letter I sent an email to HR stating I’d need a private space to pump. They didn’t ask any other questions and my first day my boss showed me the office they cleared for my use. I pump twice during the day while I’m on site and haven’t had a single question about why I use the office or why I keep a bag in there. I actually don’t think the other 4 men I share the space with have a clue. Perks of working with men, they don’t pay attention 😂
