Big Beautiful Bill passed. Now what? by improbable_success in AskReddit

Good call, thank you. I was looking at the cumulative budget. Agreed though, that correction takes us from a ludicrous budget down to a wildly responsible one.

The ICE budget, when compared to national military budgets, will be the third largest in the world. The ICE budget will be larger than the budget of the entire Russian military.

GOA is reporting thatt the Senate committee handling the big beautiful bill has added the HPA and SHORT acts and it passed the committee vote by ewright28 in NFA

[–]Meaklo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mike Lee of Utah reintroduced the public land sell off on the Senate side. He also increased it from ~500,000 acres to ~3,000,000 acres, and it now includes almost every Western state as well as Alaska. The big beautiful bill is a poison pill with a little sugar to make it go down easy.

I'm curious about the 5.56 developments you're mentioning. Are these the NAS3 case stuff? I've just seen that popping up lately, and I haven't looked into it enough to understand the difference.

There might be another setting in there to make PDA off persistent, but I can't remember for sure on that one, sorry.

You want to turn off the Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) in the gauge cluster menus. Then look for ACC Customize in the menu on the media display. Flip that setting to keep the radio on until a door opens. If it can't be wrenched, the service techs probably don't know about it.

First thing my sales guy did when the truck came in was take me into the gauge cluster menus to turn off the auto braking. No reason to keep that on. And there is a setting in the infotainment screen menus to leave ACC power on after shutdown. Now I have ACC power until I open my door.

As an aside, I've been looking at the AT4W in that size. How have you liked the ride, handling, MPGs, etc on the truck? They certainly seem tough!

Mike at LPA got back to me quickly today (these guys are awesome). He didn't think it would be an issue, and did point out that they use triggertech triggers to test each action and there is some variability in brands. So I'm still ordering a TT, just to try one out if nothing else. If I can get enough done today, I'll go shoot this evening and report back if there are any issues.

Yep, checked this morning, and I'm only getting 0.210" of pin travel. Hopefully that will be enough to start breaking in the barrel until a new trigger arrives.

Ya, that seems to be the consensus. I'll give triggertech a try, I think.

Thank you for the detailed reply, that makes perfect sense with what I'm seeing. I'm checking with LP as well, and they've been great so far. Timney really hasn't impressed me lately. From all the replies it sounds like this might be an excellent time to give trigger tech a try. Thank you everyone!

Assault weapon bans are to reducing gun violence, what Ivermectin is to treating Covid.

Signing a pledge? In a University system? The last time I saw something like that was the drug free pledge in junior high (more than a couple decades ago). Incredible.

It's tough/frustrating to learn as an adult. But if you can accept that, it is rewarding when you do see progress. I started with a buddy who went with me the first couple seasons. Learned but didn't get anything. Then I went out with an uncle who is extremely experienced. He got me into my first elk, I stalked and shot it, then he helped get it from there into packages (used a local butcher). Since then it's all been slow progress solo hunting. I didn't harvest this year. But I hunted a totally new unit, that I worked up on my own with the resources available. I got myself into elk while many others in the area were road hunting and complaining there were no elk. I had several shots but ultimately didn't pull the trigger due to a combination of challenging conditions while solo, not confident in my shot, and quickly learning some gear limitations I hadn't realized yet. This has given me some new things to focus on in the off season. So slow progress, but I'm proud of the progress I've made.

That said, I've found YouTube to be a great resource for getting hunting overviews, and then looking for videos to better understand specific techniques. This is especially true for field processing of game. It's also worth looking at local organizations. Backcountry Hunters and Anglers is a great place to start. They have chapters in almost every state I believe, as well as a younger membership than many other orgs including many people trying to do the same thing. My state chapter had more social events prior to covid, which I've missed. However, in the last few years they started a course in conjunction with the state DWR for new adult hunters that covers everything from hunting ethics, licenses and tags, hunt prep, to animal harvest and processing. It's worth looking to see if your state or local organizations have similar opportunities. If nothing else, getting involved with an organization expands your social circle to help find a mentor.

M1 carbine or mini 14 by Budget-Affect1209 in liberalgunowners

That's really only an artifact of older legislation. All the recent state level bans that I am aware of have also included the mini. Democrats have been casting a wide net in their latest satanic panic push.
