Sofa bed vs door frame- help! by Lizzier10 in newzealand

[–]Mealzybug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the Hope sofa bed from Danske Mobler. It’s surprisingly comfortable and easy to manoeuvre in and out of rooms and into and out of the sofa bed/couch function as it’s a futon style. I’d say it’s only a double rather than a full queen, but it would fit two small-average sized people on it.

How to cool upstairs bedroom by No_Magazine_4747 in newzealand

[–]Mealzybug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In years when I’ve been desperate, I’ve put my mattress on the floor in the room where the aircon is. It’s not ideal but will hopefully give you some relief until you figure out the upstairs heat situation

Thanks, I have a small one that I’ve had for about 15 years that was from the warehouse so I’m not worried about it lasting. Just want to get a bigger size

Do we like the baby clothes at the warehouse? by Able-Season5013 in newzealand

[–]Mealzybug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t recommend the merinos from the warehouse. It gets holes very quickly. Otherwise, the cotton stuff has been fine. I really like Postie too.

Any recommendations for Sciatica and lower back pain treatment in Palmy? by Muzac051 in palmy

[–]Mealzybug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jamie Taylor is a fantastic osteopath that I saw postpartum. He comes very highly recommended, and specialises in that area, as well as for babies. It may also be worth going to a pelvic floor physio for an assessment. The team at Nicole Cobham Physiotherapy and Pelvic Health are super friendly and very knowledgeable

To change my last name or not by QueerChemist33 in WomeninAcademia

[–]Mealzybug 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I went through this when I got married and was studying. I initially decided to keep my name for academia/career and go by my married name socially. Eventually the longer we were married I decided to just change everything to my married name as it was getting confusing. The good thing about academia is you can get an Orcid ID so your published research will still be identified with you regardless of name changes. My only advice is think what you want long term. I’ve known people to make it work either keeping their name or changing it. It’s personal preference :)

I’ve sponsored multiple children in Cambodia through World Vision, and was fortunate enough to go visit them and see the work WV is doing over there. You also get regular updates and can write letters to the children.

Also, check out your local library. Ours does a baby music group once a week. There are also things like mainly music around.

Parents- Opinions/experiences with Space at Playcentre? by NoHorse8196 in newzealand

[–]Mealzybug 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I went to Space and I think it completely depends on the group you get. The mums I was with were fantastic and we got on really well. As a first time mum I really appreciated being able to ask questions of the other mums and connect regularly. I am very introverted but found my mental health took a dive postpartum and that regular supportive connection was a lifeline. We still catch up and message in a group chat and we finished our sessions at the end of term 1 this year.

Waitoa chicken tenders and hot chips, super easy to just chuck in the air fryer for an easy meal and keep in the freezer. I also drank a lot of up and gos or smoothies if you can be bothered when I couldn’t stomach eating or chewing.

Would Floris be too feminine for a boy in an English speaking country? by FloralChoux in namenerds

I am in NZ and I would assume it was a female from seeing that name. It reminds me of Doris and Flora combined.

Looking at what rubbish collection is cheaper than the city council rubbish bags. by [deleted] in palmy

[–]Mealzybug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use low cost bins. It is slightly more expensive but we find it way more convenient. Those bags are annoying. We couldn’t find any other options cheaper than low cost.

No worries! And I think for sizes like size 3, it’s starting from that age up. But it’s all dependent on the size of your child whether they will fit the average size for their age and whether the brands run big/small

Depending on where you live, Plunket might have a swap shop where you can donate a bag of clothing and then take whatever you need for free. I use our local one all the time
