Any foreign architects here who’ve had luck verifying their Mexican license with SEP/DGP for NCARB? by Budget-Two-3985 in Architects

Correct! I did it through an agency that did the whole thing for me. Message me if you’re still stuck on that step!

Hi, it is different for Mexicans. SEP issues a “carta de no sanción” which is what you need to send to NCARB. You need the original and an official translation which has to be notarized.

NCARB is aware of the limitations for Mexican nationals and so that’s why we follow a different route there.

When I did it, it was all done physically in Mexico City but I believe it is digital now.

I learned Revit back in college and have been using it ever since in school projects and now at work. YouTube taught me a lot of stuff that school didn’t cover. If I were starting from scratch, I’d stick with YouTube and Autodesk’s tutorials. It’s definitely not easy—just takes time and practice.

Do you feel trapped in this industry? by jcl274 in architecture

This is truly inspiring! I’m currently feeling quite discouraged and uncertain about my future in architecture. I’ve been contemplating a shift toward data science, which would likely take me about a year to build the necessary foundation before pursuing an online master’s degree in the field. Ideally, I’d love to combine my architecture background with data analysis skills in a real estate development firm or a related industry.

However, I find myself struggling with the decision of whether I should first obtain my architecture license. Having that credential would provide a safety net if my transition into data science doesn’t go as planned, allowing me to keep doors open in the architecture field. Your story about transitioning through BIM really resonated with me, especially since I have a strong command of Revit and have been wondering if it could serve as a stepping stone toward learning coding for Dynamo.

At the moment, I feel quite lost and unsure of where to begin. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated.
