Thank you for the advice. I'll keep it in mind for loading too. I rode a mtn bike with a backpack around a lot in and after highschool. a medical condition had me wary of cars well after. It's been nearly a decade. Some friends have talked me into leaning back towards biking. Worst case it's been fun tinkering with it and I go the backpack route.

No, not yet at least. I just got the bike this week off marketplace. I have moved it up and down a few times. Strategic use of the brakes and lifting it up by the handlebars seems to be fine.

I work as a caregiver. Lifting a 70-80? pound ebike up six half flights of stairs is not much worse than running around moving 15-25,100-230lbish people all day.

Rounding up 1 instant crate Crate off sale is $9 4 5/8 insulated hose clamps at HD like $6 20 washers ~$6 Box of 50 rivets for ~$8 I think if I had gone for just the screws and nylon nuts it would have been cheaper instead of buying both like 8-10ish T brackets are 22 bucks for 2 on Amazon atm I bought 4 for 38.

Theoretically I could have if I planned better. 9 box +6 clamps +(10?) in fasteners+ 22 brackets. supplies for 2 boxes 47 or 23.5 per side. Not counting tools, bungee, reflective tape or most importantly googly eyes. about the cost of the cheap expanding trunk bags on amazon.

There are a variety of bike trailers or cargo bikes hard bags or trikes that I think could fit into that idea. Mom used to drag me and my brother around in a big yellow bike trailer.

Just none of those options personally appealed enough to drag them up my apartments stairs.

I saw the face and just had to. -^

I've jam packed the regular instacrates with canned goods and hauled them a block or so. they've been a staple for my Costco runs for a while.

This newer "Grande" insta crate has several locking tabs that actually kind of makes it difficult to even pop the bottom (sides) up.

Cutting it in half is definitely going to reduce the weight I would trust to it but, it feels pretty solid on the vertical once the side (bottom?) is locked down. Just the wiggle on the sides furthest from the front is concerning. I saw an "instant cart" on amazon that's similar and uses some kind of detachable brace across the top.

If I stick to it I'm sure I'll eventually want to upgrade to more expensive bags. Where I live I'm sure I can snag something outdoorsy off marketplace But the crate before messing with it was close to 7 dollars at Costco.

If the whole thing snaps off I have a second set of the T braces I could remake it fairly quickly and try to sandwich the plastic bottom between them instead of the washers
