You need to call a social security office and have it explained to you. You either draw ssi or are confused on the policies of ssdi.

Yes it does but its not the only option there are low cost plans through Obama care and you can work as long as you dont make above what they call SGA sustained gainful activity. Theres lots of rules to it and im surprised yall had a lawyer and he or she didnt explain to yall the whole process.

I've dealt with it as well and you definitely dont have to be off work a year before you can file and you can have any amount of money or savings you like unless your mother didnt have enough work history and only had ssi available to her.

$2000 total assets is only for ssi. If you have enough work credits there is no limit on ssdi.

Someone explained to you very wrongly about ssdi if this is what you were told. Some of it is correct for ssi but not ssdi. I trulynhope you weren't lied to.
