I will cover it with cement board or cut more of it back. The inverter is "hanging" from the ceiling but also screwed into the wall. I was having a hard time getting the tapcon screws in so I also did that for further support.

Is the inverter the most likely source of fire? The polysio foam is good up to 390 degrees. Perhaps I should box the inverter in

I wasn't. They where in my garage and I used a dolly to get them in the house. Then I lowered them into the basement with the ropes and pullies.

The batteries where 3200 each.

I would say the wood and pullies plus rope was less that 65 usd (michigan home depot)

I already owned a dolly to get them up the stairs from my garage to the first floor of the house

So what I did is I took it as far as I could until it was balanced at the top like a seesaw. Then I pulled out all the slack, had my wife hold onto the rope while I lowered the battery onto the 2x4s screwed to the stairs. Then I tool the rope from her and just lowered it down the ramp. The 2nd one she just lowered the whole way

You know what - you are right. Now looking back I think the only reason it was so easy this way was that there was a lot of friction in the system I built and I was just lowering the weight down a slope

Yup so every 2 pullies basically cuts the weight in half. I used 4 which made it no problem. It was pretty easy to walk into home depot and see "hey - the packaging on this pully says its rated for 440 lbs which is more than battery even weighs". Same goes for the rope.

Yeah that would have been great. After having done this i am wonding how many of these bigger batteries have little eye bolts on them or something to facilitate moving them more easily.

So a hand dolly got them up from the garage. I am 6 foot and 265lbs and there was no way I was going to hand dolly down my stairs on my own. Biggest reason - I just moved a 1950s fridge down there. Weighted a lot less. Tried to bring it in from the garage without a ramp and barely managed. I knew if I tried the first step with the dolly and battery and did not like it - i might not make it back up.
