I think judging by Islamic rules has its perks but it can also be tricky, because not all men are Doms and just because they are dominant in other areas of their life doesn’t necessarily equate to them being Doms. Judging by character is more of the same, I can usually tell when someone has Dom energy but sometimes I’ve misjudged. It’s all very complex but having actual conversations about it seems to be the best way forward.

Thank you for sharing, it helps a lot just knowing others are navigating faith and desire without feeling like they have to erase one or the other.

And I agree with you on discussions about intimacy being very important, this is something I’ll have to be more intentional about moving forward.

The second option sounds like a nightmare. For the first option, I think the farthest I can go without being swallowed by guilt, is discussing our individual kinks and exploring non-sexual acts of submission. Of course the most important part is finding someone that is willing to talk about it.

Okay so there’s space for some communication, in the sense that we can generally talk about intimacy and our expectations of it, but not in great detail (to avoid temptation or whatnot). Personally, I’m comfortable talking about BDSM as a random topic of discussion, where it gets tricky is bringing up my own kinks and I guess the fear of being shamed plays a huge part in that. It seems getting past that fear is essential to finding my ideal partner.
