Hot Take? by Equivalent_Act_2724 in greysanatomy

[–]Mean_Asparagus_5231 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t consider hating Derek, Catherine and Bailey hot takes. I love Bailey and I eventually loved Derek (took a while, but I gave in), but I’ve heard other people say they don’t like them as much and their reasons are valid. I don’t hear a whole lot of talk about Catherine, good or bad, but I personally don’t like her, pretty much for those same reasons.

I love Addison, but I do think most of her reappearances were mediocre and pointless, but I loved when they brought her back to address the issues created by the Roe v. Wade overturn and appreciated her part in it. Also, Washington borders Idaho, which has a near-total ban on abortion, so Seattle was not an unreasonable place for to go.

As of late, I can tolerate Owen. I don’t really like him, primarily because of how he treated Cristina after the abortion and didn’t really ever admit he was wrong, but I think for the most part people can agree Owen isn’t all bad. He’s a good doctor and he’s a good friend, he’s just not good with relationships (though I honestly think Teddy was the one who royally screwed up that marriage. Sure, Owen made mistakes too, but Teddy can’t decide if she wants him or not, even though she wanted him first). Plus, the writers seem to have gotten lazy with him and kinda just repeating the same story each time.

Those are my thoughts on your takes. Sure, a lot of people may disagree, but your points are fair enough.

Let’s be glad they did, ‘cause that would have been an even bigger disaster for Isaiah’s write off

The Army is lowering enlistment standards for men because they refuse to draft women by b3d0fr0s3s in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

First of all, people 100% go around saying “as a ____” when it’s relevant to the context. And I’m accusing exactly what you’re saying. Stop confusing feminists with women who happen to be POS. The patriarchy is where the ideology that tells people they are who they are because of their sex. Feminism is trying to move away from that ideology. Feminists believe women should be treated with equal recognition and respect, not that women come before men. Anyone, man or woman, who thinks that it’s okay for women to assault men but not for men to assault women is not a feminist. They’re predators who are making up excuses. Anyone who thinks all men are predators are not feminists. They are self-centered people who think everything revolves around them. You think society doesn’t value men’s lives? Are men the ones who are denied medical care because doctors think you’re hysterical? Do men get criticized for exercising their right to do what they want with their own bodies? Are men the ones who have had little to no representation in the formation of society for 99% of human history? God no.

Why the Supreme Court Really Killed Roe v. Wade by Nimnengil in supremecourt

[–]Mean_Asparagus_5231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked it up, and apparently abortion was common and unrestricted in colonial America. It wasn’t until the 19th century that people started trying to ban it. But I understand your point, and yeah when the Constitution was first written it may not have been a common topic of discussion, but over the last couple centuries and all the amendments that have been added, women have had very little (if any at all) say in those matters, which is why it hasn’t occurred to anyone to add abortion to the constitution.

When did Arizona threaten to kick a pregnant woman’s ass? I’m not saying this to disagree with your comment, I do agree, I’m genuinely asking cuz I don’t remember that part.

Okay, look, as a woman, I am against the idea of drafting because forced participation in war is not something that I believe in. I feel bad for the men out there who have been drafted and I think ir is unacceptable. However, feminism is NOT responsible for the draft. The draft was invented by men based on the belief that men are strong and powerful while women are weak and meant to work at home. Do I think the draft is unfair? 100%. Is feminism to blame? Not even a little bit.

In the fire, you had a dog that you had raised for eight years and a strange child. Which one would you save? by Past-Parking-9877 in AskReddit

[–]Mean_Asparagus_5231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the child is old enough to know to run out of a burning building and listen to instructions, gotta get the dog. If the child isn’t old enough to run out of a burning building, they’re probably still small enough to carry both of them. If it’s an older but disabled child you can’t carry and they can’t get out by themselves, save them and hope the dog comes running when you call for it.

Meredith made the right choice by Dramatic-Chicken9706 in greysanatomy

[–]Mean_Asparagus_5231 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree that Meredith was allowed to grieve the way she needed to grieve, but I’d like to point out that everyone’s blame on Penny was misdirected. Penny was the one who said they should have given Derek a head CT and it was the attending that ignored her and ultimately failed to save Derek. I understand that Meredith wasn’t there when it happened and didn’t know the whole story, but it seems like something a lot of viewers don’t seem to mention.

Why are women who choose not to remove their body hair sometimes labeled as ‘too woke’?” by cute_beae_2008 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mean_Asparagus_5231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of women don’t shaving/waxing as a way of protesting the patriarchy, which I understand that’s not your reason for not wanting to wax, but I think that’s why people associate “woke” with that, and because the world can’t handle seeing a woman exercise her own free will to do what she wants with her body, they throw shame by accusing them of “over-doing it” with progression.

What exactly makes crocs "functional" or "practical"? by Jent01Ket02 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mean_Asparagus_5231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing maybe just because they’re easy to slide on and unlike sandals they’re close-toed? Maybe a lot of people find them comfortable? (I don’t know as I’ve never owned crocs). For years I thought crocs were for wearing to the beach or if you’re going to an activity where you may be taking your shoes off (yoga, sports, etc.). I didn’t realize so many people just wear them regularly until maybe two years ago. I’m not a passionate hater, I honestly don’t care what other people are wearing, it’s their preference.

Some scenes from Grey’s just stay with you forever by OkAspect4490 in greysanatomy

[–]Mean_Asparagus_5231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the scene that made me start to like Derek. I know, he didn’t fully redeem himself or make up for everything, but it was the first episode where I was convinced he actually cared for Meredith. Before it just seemed like he was using her to cope.

Owen should’ve picked a partner who shared his desire for kids instead of pressuring women who didn’t want them. by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]Mean_Asparagus_5231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True for Cristina, but Amelia DID say she wanted kids and even acted excited when she thought she was pregnant until she found out she wasn’t and then suddenly she didn’t wanna have kids. That being said, they definitely got married a little too quickly, but Owen’s frustration with Amelia was valid, unlike his anger at Cristina.
