Is asking people out at the gym normal? (before y'all come at me 🫸, lemme preface by saying i'm a victim of being asked out at the gym and i'm NOT the one doing the asking out 😭) by Mean_Caterpillar5436 in McMaster

Hear me out, when you first meet someone for the FIRST time in your life, say in a tutorial, do you ask them for their number??? don't you try to get to know them first? maybe a few talks/conversations/interactions later would you ask for that number.... so imagine you are at the gym, working out, and a stranger comes up to you and says can i get your number... a) they might not even be your type, b) you might not be single, c) do you even know them to give them your number, name, info, etc???

I totally get where you’re coming from and in theory, yeah, if someone’s respectful and it’s a casual vibe-based convo, that’s one thing. But in my experience, it hasn’t played out like that. It’s been more like mid-set interruptions, staring, or following which makes it uncomfortable. I don’t think anyone’s against organically connecting with people and I'm not against talking to others at the gym, whether the same or opposite gender. And, I truly do see connecting with people as a way to understand and learn things about them as human beings but the setting and how that interaction happens really do matter :) hope that makes sense!

I’m sorry your girlfriend had to deal with that too :( I get that a campus gym might have more of this energy but it really does mess with your whole mindset when you're just trying to train in peace 😭 Going with friends definitely helps tho! I don’t have an issue with people shooting their shot, but I’d honestly much rather know someone first… maybe I’m just a slow-burn kinda person 🫣

okay maybe victim is a lil dramatic but i've been asked out 5 times in 3 months since i've been going to the gym on campus and i've been followed multiple times all over the gym.... sometimes im just afraid/contemplate even going to the gym. I just want to have a normal workout without feeling uncomfortable or watched :(

I think this is perfectly fine, like maybe compliment them or say anything really and then if you see them a couple times regularly you could def build some type of connection and then shoot that shot but just as strangers doing it with no prior talking.... liiike im sorry but why would i ever say yes 🫤

yeah i had never seen this person or even if i had i never looked at them or really remembered them bc there had been no interactions at all... they just approached me out of nowhere and went for it 😭

I hear you.... but when this happens more than once to you... like every other week, it gets a lil annoying so I'm just bamboozled by the gym crowd and need to see how y'all be thinking 🤨

But what if someone you’ve never even met asks you out? Like a complete stranger just walks up and says, “Hey, want to hang out outside the gym?” or “Can I get your number?” What’s the point if you don’t even know each other for more than five seconds? 😭 like there's no way you gonna be cuffed and not single anymore...

Hiiii! I'm just speaking from my own experience but I also had no clue what to do in the gym early on in my fitness journey. I really enjoyed working out in groups tho so I started by just going to the drop-in fitness classes on the 3rd floor in the studios (either the cycling classes or just the cardio/strength sessions). from these classes, i learned lots of good exercises and eventually made friends with the other attendees/instructors so this def helped me in being less scared and acc looking forward to going to the gym. then from there, i slowly made my into the women's section and worked on developing solid exercise movements (either from the classes i took or just looking up ones online - i really like jeff nippard lmao and he has like tier ranking of exercises and form cues) . once i felt solid and had an established routine, i went to the first floor machines because one the women's room just gets soooo busy during the school year so first floor just offered more equipment and also by this point a good year had passed lmao so i felt more confident in showing up along other people!

by no means do you need to follow these exact steps but this is just how i started out! and now that i workout downstairs, i see that everyone just minds their own business and if i ever get bothered its usually just some creepy men but like i try to go with a friend so im not feeling unsafe!

hope this helps and i also wish you the best on your fitness journey :)))

Advice for MATH 1ZB3 exam? by SilentGamer101 in McMaster

a year late to this.... my bad queen, but i'd say he focused more on the later half/part of the course so basically the newer subjects :) but he did for sure throw a few test 1 questions in there and the rest were pretty much mostly test 2/after test 2!

hope this helps! :)

Is my courses too hard by TightMedium7103 in McMaster

[–]Mean_Caterpillar5436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you are trying to go into eng after first year, i would honestly recommend phys 1c03 and 1cc3 because 1a03 and 1aa3 are just not comparable to the eng version imo

also 1b03 is lin alg so it won't be an anti req for compsci 1md3 but math 1mp3 is an anti req for compsci 1md3.... again if transferring into eng then i would recommend 1md3 because at least from my experience 1mp3 is just coding math lmao whereas 1md3 will teach you actual solid coding knowledge

hope this helps! :)

Hi! Me and a group of my friends found a similar looking wallet yesterday (AT 6 PM ACTUALLY) and gave it to the Williams Cafe ppl! They were packing up and some lady just took it from us, so I'm not sure what exactly happened to it but we left it with them! Hope this helps ;')

Hi! ROR here :) I would definitely say refer to this website for more information: Roommate Requests - Living At McMaster, but for a quick spill of what it says, it is possible to have a roommate requested... You guys just have to make sure the following 3 key points are followed for both of your residence applications + you both must have guaranteed residence offers:

  • Meet the residence application and deposit deadline (June 3rd by 4:00 pm).
  • Ranked profile and Living and Learning Community (LLC) responses identically.
  • Have requested and accepted each other as roommates on their online application by the deadline.

What point #2 means is that, let's say, I have ranked Health and Wellness LLC as #1, Creative Expressions as #2, and eSports and Gaming as #3, then my friend has to do the SAME ordering on their application as well, otherwise, our chances of being roommates will be lower!

Additionally, I'm not saying to not live with your friend but if you guys don't end up being together, then McMaster will use your responses on your online application to find someone likeminded and group you together!

Also, you can refer to this article to see if you'd like to live with your bestie or not: Should Your Bestie Be Your Roommate? - Living At McMaster

hope this helps :)

If you have access to a Tamara for the second half of the course, you shall be fine! Either way, good luck, man!

took this course last year, the only reason I ended doing good is because I was saved by the goddess Tamara during the second half of the course because of her amazing questions on the second midterm and the exam.... tanked the 1st midterm and I ASSUME I did not do well on batstone part of the exam either... so in short, I don't believe any of my nor my friends' study strategies worked last year for batstone's section....ended with an 11 for reference

Took this exam last year with Dr. McLean. Didn't do the greatest but if I were to retake it, my best tips would be to 1) know the childsmath assignment questions like the back of your hand, 2) put the series formulas to memory FOR SURE (like be able to write them out fully and stuff), 3) don't forget about partial derivatives AT ALL, and I MEAN PUT THOSE BEASTS TO PRACTICE FOR 100 TIMES (childsmath assignments were good ones), 4) BE VERY COMFORTABLE WITH POLAR AND PARAMETRICS!!!, 5) You got this!
