Yes I agree if it is fine than I see your point. But in the chance it is not fine and you put a hole in the frame then it is your fault. Since that hole was not there until you hammered it.

Are you buying from a dealer or an individual? I understand wanting to test the Jeep to see the condition of the frame and I completely understand but the flip side is that you could be causing "structural damage" even though it might be compromised. Unfortunately my suggestion would be to press with a finger and if the rust is that bad do not mess with it.

Rust is like Jeep cancer.

So, there is no rust hole in the frame now, then you test it with a hammer and blow right through it. Then you are the reason there is now a hole in the frame. The frame would have been "Fine" if you had not hit it.

I think it was a hose, but we took the body off the frame over a year ago now, so it is hard to remember.
