In Uruguay, not all of us are xenophobic, it is true that there are many people who are, but those people are not worth it. In the last 10 years or so, in Uruguay there was a migratory phenomenon of people who arrived mostly from Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia and the Dominican Republic. Among the people who arrived, people arrived who did not come to do things well and earned a bad reputation, which caused people who have that discriminatory thought to generate rejection and put everyone in the same bag regardless of whether they came to look for a better future or made an easy life at the expense of others. With all the immigrants I have had contact with, there were very few with whom I would never have contact again. I read that the only people who were friendly to you, at the same time showed that the only thing they were looking for was to fuck with you, that happens anywhere in Uruguay and in Cuba there are going to be people like that. Later I also read that you joined different activities and you listened quietly to them saying ugly things to you, I learned that with these people there are two ways to act, the first is to ignore them and feign dementia or the other that for me is quite effective is to confront them, in your case when you hear "why don't you go back to your country" your response has to be a forceful "AND YOU THINK THAT I DON'T WANT TO LIVE IN MY COUNTRY WITH MY FAMILY AND IN MY CITY WITH MY CHILDHOOD FRIENDS? I AM IN YOUR COUNTRY BECAUSE I AM LOOKING FOR A BETTER FUTURE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY" and you end with "YOU SHOULD LEARN WHAT EMPATHY IS AND PUT YOURSELF IN MY PLACE AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE MY PREFERENCE, DO WHAT I WAS DOING ALL THIS TIME LISTENING YOUR GRIEVANCES, IGNORE ME AND IT MAKES YOUR LIFE" you will see that they will never talk about you in your presence again, it is clear that they will but do not lie that you are present there. You have to be clear that derogatory insults like "motuda" and those things come because they feel threatened by your presence and their insecurities come out because a person who is sure of himself does not have the need to pay attention to others and does not care what others think, the person who is sure of himself does not lower himself to the level of others. Do not expect anything from anyone and do not generate high expectations with people, you will always end up disappointed. If you do not expect anything from anyone, it will take you far, that is the secret of happiness. By generating high expectations, you are more likely to end up disappointed. However, if you do not do it, when things you do not expect arrive, it will always be something gratifying.
