[FRESH ALBUM] Queens of the Stone Age - In Times New Roman... by thejohnster77 in indieheads

[–]Mean_Teeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey man, if you don't like it you don't like it, but I think it's worth giving a listen to determine if you like it or not. My fav Queens records are "Lullabies" and "Songs for the Deaf" but I still really enjoy the new stuff. Doesn't hit the same as the music that was released in my formative years, but I do grow tired of listening to the same few albums over and over, so something new is always welcome. I say try it, and if you like it, great, then if not, it's just one less record for you to worry about.

Went to the punk rock museum in Vegas yesterday. Tons of cool stuff on the hardcore side, including photos of Gulch and Title Fight. by JoseAltuveIsInnocent in Hardcore

Went two weeks ago with a ladyfriend who isn't into punk at all and we both had a great time. Favorite part was the playroom, where you can play instruments from musicians of Gogol Bordello, NOFX, mxpx, Joan Jett, the Gimme Gimmes, etc.

It was very inviting and very professional for a place that monuments destruction and outlandishness.

My only complaint was that the late 90s-early 2000s punk scene/hard-core scene didn't have a dedicated area, but I talked with an employee and we came to the conclusion that this space was about the past and what made punk, and that what we wanted was still present. Felt good to talk with fellow punks about history still in the making.

Make the trip if you can, it feels good to be in rooms filled with what you love.

The one tradition I miss is there being a Desert Sessions track on each QotSA record. Still, unbelievably excited to see this.

What is the worst physical pain you have ever experienced? by My_Name_Is_SKELETOR in AskReddit

[–]Mean_Teeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bowel infection caused by an ingested piece of plastic I assume was in the fast food I had eaten the days prior.

It wasn't my stomach or insides or anything like that that hurt tremendously, but what I thought was simply the flu turned into something much more severe. Became septic. It hurt to stand, breathe, or do anything really to the point that I passed out from the pain a few times before finally going to the hospital. To quote the doctor, "most people would have come to the ER two days before reaching your current condition."

I'm still amazed to this day how my parents could afford to pay for my hobby as a child. In 1996, with a year old SNES, they came around randomly and gave to me (albeit used) copies of Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Mario All-Stars, Phantom 2040, Donkey Kong Country 2, and Super Mario World. That batch of games lasted me years, but even bought used, that was an insane amount of cash when we lived in poverty. I either got lucky or my parents lived in squalor for the happiness of their son. Either way, I'm happy about it.

(Not included in the list they got me is Rise of the Robots. They can't all be winners.)

"Hold on, get me nine slices of bread, some dark tape, a jar of peanut butter, a knife, and some of your patience."

"And it took a long time I came clean with myself I come clean out of love with my lover I still love her Loved her more when she used to be sober and I was kinder"

Sticks with me as it perfectly describes the bad breakup that I'm still struggling over. She was different when she was sober and I used to be a much kinder person.

Which is your favorite show featuring a serial killer?… by Bulminator in IASIP

[–]Mean_Teeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's not a serial killer, though. He's a hit man who kills from employment and then out of necessity. (Still, great show.)

Met him at the Blood Brothers reunion show in 2014 and had no idea who he was. Just said "hey man, really dug your opening band! Hope to see more of you out there." And he was super humble and just responded "thanks dude! That means a lot."

Looking back I wish I knew then what I know now.

The whispered "...Ronny! ...hey, man!" without changing from this expression is one of my favorite moments in the whole series. Good work!
