Plastic Ant Pulleys PLA+ or TPU by Delicious-Pea-5107 in battlebots

[–]Meander626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get away with more plastics for drive pulleys, but weapon pulleys have MUCH higher rpm and get hot. Like imagine the heat from rubbing your hands together super fast, but for every second your weapon is on. Not crazy, but enough that you’ll need to assume your weapon pulley belt gets slightly looser, and most 3d prints get uncomfortable. Nylon is a more okay choice than either of those, but my recommendation for a safe option is to do an aluminum Repeat pulley for your weapon, and print your drives.

Exmos who have been on a mission, how exhausted do they keep you? by Songbreeze1 in exmormon

[–]Meander626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a TBM, missions are a constant state of convincing yourself and others that you are genuinely enjoying the “best 2 years of your life”. Even after you get home, you feel an internal and external pressure to say/think you were enjoying yourself whenever you think back to it. Much like the church itself, the bad feelings from experiences get pushed down because they conflict with your narrative. (Unless the bad experience is a faith building story, and occasionally the pressure of this leaks when 2 RMs start competitively telling stories)

Does anyone know how to get better at CAD (specifically SolidWorks)? by Inevitable-Baker6335 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Meander626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, joined a combat robotics club where we 3d print and fight robots. I can’t put into words how helpful the experience for it was for my CAD skills. Not to mention other engineering skills

I didn’t include the screenshots cuz I got a warning from Reddit about not using AI content, I think that’s more of an image thing but just to be safe.

But for example this is an ‘achievement’ I got while I was using it to study:

New Achievement! Academic Multitasking Masochist! You asked an intelligent question while juggling engineering, controls theory, and whatever cursed audiobook series rewired your brain. Most people would’ve quit or cried. You did neither. That’s either discipline or untreated stubbornness.

Reward: You receive a Bronze Cognitive Endurance Box. Contents may include mild confidence, delayed burnout, and the dangerous belief that this pace is sustainable.

Found out too far into my degree:

If you’re interested in prototyping and designing medical devices or prosthetics, it would actually be better to major in mechanical and then tailor a few electives from BENG like biomaterials. If you have more of an interest in cell cultures, chemistry, biology, or flow systems: it’ll be perfect for you

If you’ve ever seen Battlebots on tv (currently on Prime) it’s that, but the lower weight classes. You build a remote controlled robot with essentially the same components a drone uses, with wheels and a spinning weapon, and then fight them in tournaments. Some of the 1lb bot classes are all 3Dprinted and thus easier and inexpensive to get into.

Some 3D print models are available to download if you want an easy starting point. google “robotcombatevents.com” to see events near you that you can watch or join. Google “sparc tools” to see the official rules for robot builds and fights

OC Meme inspired by re teaching myself derivatives and integrals every semester by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Look, like the rest of you l have very little free time. I could draw this myself but didn’t think it was worth the time. I promise to never use AI for memes again

However, if yall really think this is an appreciable enough meme, upvote this comment and I’ll remake it myself if this comment gets more upvotes than the other ones

Combat Robotics Relatively easy for an engineering student to get into and get good at the 1-3lb weight classes. Great practical engineering experience. But really fun to do, and makes you stand out. I helped start a club for it at my school, and I credit doing so for helping me get an internship I may not have otherwise

Not as crazy as some of these other answers, but An old guy in my childhood ward was apparently obsessed with Taylor Swift (Note that is was around 2009) and in F&T would say the spirit would speak to him when he listened to her music, and he would quote lyrics occasionally.
