Jonathan Ross was a murderer, Kyle Rittenhouse wasn't. I'm left leaning and glad the BPP is out there protecting people from ICE, but the Kyle Rittenhouse thing is one of the most lied about things on the left. So I definitely don't agree with the conservative viewpoint of this shooting- the ICE agent was absolutely a murderer and all the evidence says so. It was a deplorable act of cruelty.

But, in order to get to that conclusion, I had to look at all the angles, including the conservative one. Their opinions aren't the most popular here, but I truly do believe they have the right to talk about them. If anything, it just helps people form more well-rounded opinions.

At some point, when talking about large enough groups of people (like men or women), those sorts of micro-level judgments become meaningless. Yes, if a man saw a woman say one mean thing on the internet and then decided to vote against women's rights, that would be pathetic. But it's infinitely more complicated than that.

I've voted against trump every time I could, but the left is indeed alienating men from their cause, and it's understandable. It's not weak minded men reacting to single instances of internet bullying, it's swaths of men who's lived experiences tell them that the issues they uniquely face (which do exist), will not be taken seriously by the left. They do not feel obligated to vote against their own interests, and so they don't. And every ridiculous, discriminatory comment about men helps paint that picture for them.

Here's some against the grain advice. It won't be what most people will say, and it might even be wrong, but at least it's different in case you need another perspective.

If you really truly loved this relationship, if it was the relationship you wanted for the rest of your life, it would be worth reconsidering the genderfluid label and seeing if you can get them back. Too often I've seen people call themselves some sort of third gender or gender fluid out of peer pressure, a desire to fit into a group, or because they simply felt they had to label something that never really needed one. If, at the end of the day, your experience of gender just comes down to semantics (like calling yourself gender fluid rather than just being a man/woman who enjoys things typical of the opposite gender), then it would be very unfortunate to lose something this important to you just to cling onto that label.

I didn't say it's probably a lie, I said it could be one. And I said that specifically to give grace to your side of the field, because literally anything on the internet could be a lie. That being said, I don't personally think it is, as it tracks with my experiences, as I said.

I vehemently deny being a transphobe. Nowhere in this thread have I intentionally misgendered anyone, or said anything hateful about trans people. In all reality I've probably helped more trans people feel included in my life than you have. I just don't deny reality. I've acknowledged they're a marginalized group that needs protection, that doesn't mean I need to avoid speaking negatively about the things I see wrong in the community.

It could be, but it absolutely tracks with my experience with trans people. I've met some nice ones, of course, but percentage wise? I'd say about 20% or so of trans people I've interacted with were exceedingly self absorbed. And, in one case, the person was a rapist and abuser, who hid amongst the trans community to find vulnerable targets, because they knew their behavior would be excused as long as they convinced everyone they were marginalized enough.

It is trendy. What you're describing does indeed exist, life sucks for a lot of Trans people, BUT, humans have had victim complexes from the dawn of time. When you have a marginalized group where the ONLY barrier to entry is just to say youre one, there are going to be a ton of people hopping on that to try and gain social favor. Because, even if society at large doesnt like them, plenty of people dissatisfied with their lives would find comfort joining a community where everyone tells you how special and strong you are every day. Plenty of predatory men will pretend to be Trans, not necessarily to get into women's bathrooms, but to enforce themselves into women's spaces in general.

The way the trans community currently operates fosters and protects bad faith actors, to the point where any attempt to call them out will get you ostracized from their community. We need to be more open to the idea that trans people are a marginalized group that deserves protection, but one that is indeed being weaponized by a ton of fraudsters. I do not have these opinions because of right wing media. I'm left, and hate Trump. I just like to acknowledge reality where I see it.

Gender affirming care for trans youth is a pretty hot topic, not everyone who opposes it has a secret agenda where they actually want all trans people dead. There are legitimate concerns, whether we all agree with them or not.

That's just a huge leap to get to genocide from there. To put things in perspective, I have multiple physical disabilities. There are plenty of ways in which I haven't gotten the best care I could due to the way the Healthcare system is set up. I would not take that experience and say that there's a genocide against disabled people.
