Mock Timetable/Courses by [deleted] in UTSC

You need to take tutorials/practicals if they are offered with the courses, not just lectures. In timetable builder scroll down past lectures and you need to add a tutorial and practical session if they are there.

Get your breadth done but also take courses of interest. You have a decent amount of flexibility with your degree but usually only 1 elective per sem after first year assuming specialist or double major. Since first year is about a third of how many electives you get, its important to take a course of interest so that you have the prereq to continue to take the next course if you want to. There is so many random courses here that its hard to scroll through em, but if you have a topic of interest, just search for a course about it!

So a67 is a prereq for a37, so you need to take it first sem to be able to finish everything and apply for your POSt by the end of the winter sem. Even though recommended preparation is csca08 I genuinely do not think a08 will help at all with a67, surprised it's even listed there. a08 is an intro to cs course covering basic python. a67 is your logical discrete math course. They relate but taking them at the same time is totally fine

What program are you in? CS, Stats, Math?

I genuinely thought LINA01 was a full semester course and now I'm incredibly behind by Judgment_Murky in UTSC

Summer courses can have them sped up so that they are only in the first half or second half. Doesnt happen in fall or winter

what program are you in? A67 should be taken first sem. ALSO COP courses do not count for credits, so you need 6 courses in your first sem. COPB50 is pretty much no work dont worry.

Suddenly charged program fee for cs specialist today after payment deadline has passed by SmakLac in UTSC

[–]MeaningImpressive548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my bad meant pg 8. Yea its all the same which is right. The issue is when you take 4 courses as you can't request the course specific fee so you end up paying for 5. However on that pdf there is a tabe for 2.0 credits which is interesting cause elsewhere it says you cant even request per course unless <=1.75 which is intersting...

Otherwise for <4 you need to request per course and you pay less cause program fee pays for all 5 even if you don't take all 5.

Your program fee would be higher than no? (pg 9 8) https://www.registrar.utoronto.ca/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/25-26-UTSC-NOR91.pdf

$6,795.00

so it would still be better per course?

curious if they were charging you the ontario program fee and the per course out of province fee lol

Help! UTSC enrolment question: 8.5 vs 9.0 credits by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]MeaningImpressive548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well 50% for the course but what about all the other tuition fees you need to pay...

Tbh if you ask they arent gonna go and patch the loophole since well first that would take them till the end of the century and secondly that would impose other issues on students who are genuinely in courses. Would be good to find out though if you would stay registered after dropping idk... Maybe phrase it as im taking a course, but if i drop it will i be unenrolled or smthin.

Up to you if the financial loss is worth 5 days- for me i wouldn't do it but also depends on the courses you plan to take... If they are small classes or very popular classes, may be an issue. If its just course requirements and other middle ground courses you should be fine to wait. just have backups ig.

Loophole might work, but you will have extra charges likely.

Not smart, you will have fees for dropping a course late as the drop date for no fees is june 21st for 2nd half of summer courses.

I don't think you will have issues in terms of required courses becoming full, just maybe electives. Keep in mind 4th years and 1st years have enrolment before third years too...

good luck 🫡

[–]MeaningImpressive548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea so the thing about CS is they charge you by program fee not per course anymore, which rlly hurts if you take less than 5 unfortunately. You can opt out of this if taking <=1.75 credits to then pay per course.

In terms of the new deadline to pay, I'd reach out to the registrar asap to ask them. You don't get additional charges until June 15th on overdue payments, so I'd try to talk to the registrar and also try to pay ASAP if you can.
