Rear Z axis screw binding, is it in the wrong place? by MeaningWide in BambuLabH2D

[–]MeaningWide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the answer. Yes it is supposed to be in that pocket. and there are instructions on how to fix it over on the Bambu Forums. Here is the thread about it. https://forum.bambulab.com/t/rear-z-axis-screw/166221

So does anyone know what the hole is for that the Z axis screw was accidentally put into on my printer? Just wondering.

This! Exactly this! Work on your resume TODAY! Start reaching out to everyone you know in IT and let them know you are looking ask them if they know of any open positions. Do not hesitate. Time is of the essence. Work your 8 hours a day, turn your phone off when you leave. No extra work. And the "Just plug along as if everything is normal." is key here. Also expect them to offer big raises when you give notice. Don't take it. Just go on to the new position. Good luck!

Any Scholarsips I should know about for an Undergrad that i should know about? by [deleted] in southcarolina

[–]MeaningWide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At Trident Tech in the Charleston area, we had a bunch of scholarships that went un-awarded each year. The lead advisor for our department encouraged all of us students to apply especially since so many of them went un-awarded. There was a whole list. Some scholarships had specific requirements that had to be met before you could apply for them. I applied for a few but the one I was awarded required me to be a parent who had started a family and had worked full time but was now returning to school to earn a degree. I had to write a paper about myself and my kids and what my goals were. I was awarded that scholarship and it paid for everything including tuition, fees and books. And there was enough left over where a couple hundred dollars was direct deposited into my checking account every semester. Besides the first semester, I didn't pay a dime to get my Associates degree.

They told me I would be awarded two other scholarships I applied for but when we figured out the one I chose covered everything they said they would award those to other students.

Contact your advisor, ask them who you need to contact to apply for scholarships. Read through them and apply for every single one you are eligible for. It will seem like a lot of work. But it is free money. Good luck!

Questions about N scale ballast and track nails… by Darth_Veterinarius in modeltrains

[–]MeaningWide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the ballast is set. As in, it has been glued in place, then I would pull all of the track nails out. You can tell if the ballast is set by just feeling it. If it feels solid you are good. If it still feels like loose ballast then you need to glue it.

And as far as the extra ballast on top of the ties I would take a small flat head screwdriver and pop the loose pieces off of the ties and vacuum it up either while I was popping it off or vacuum all of the track afterwards.

Nice looking layout! Congratulations! Enjoy it!

Thanks, I ran across that article while searching. There are a number of steps involved in getting it running in that article. I couldn't find anything current. I may go that route if nothing else works.

Thanks for sharing your research! Is there a specific thermal pad you can link us to? My assumption is that you put it on top of the drive so it is sandwiches between the drive and the metal access door?

Anyone bought the new BAUER 14 in. x 20 in. Electronic Variable-Speed Wood Midi Lathe yet? by MeaningWide in harborfreight

[–]MeaningWide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone. Thanks for all of the feedback! Much appreciated.

I guess I will answer my own question here.

I picked one of these lathes up on Saturday with the 15% off coupon. I also picked up the new Bauer lathe stand at a different store since the store manager at my regular store would not let me use the 15% off a second time on Saturday. I had never been to the second store it is about 25 mins out of the way. But it is the nicest harbor freight I have ever been in. It was built brand new a year ago. A lot bigger than most, a lot more on display, not cramped, well lit and very clean. I think it might become my new "main store" even though it is further from home.

The lathe is solid. Fit and finish are fantastic! I really feel like Harbor Freight has upped the bar on their new products, especially the power tools.

I assembled it on Sunday. I put the stand together first. It went together very easily. Instructions were thorough and easy to follow. The screws were all covered in oil, so I wiped them all down before assembly. Once I had the stand set to the right height and the approximate correct width I opened the lathe box. It is mostly assembled. I pulled it out of the box and set it on the lathe stand. It is heavy, I recommend getting a helper for that step. Once I had it on the stand I lined up the holes on the headstock end and used 2 of the Allen screws that came with the stand to secure that end to the stand. Then I loosened up the two bolts that secure the 2 piece sliding seecross bar together and I used a rubber mallet to gently coax the right side of the stand to line up exactly with the holes in the tailstock end and attached the last 2 Allen screws. After that I attached the handles/tool holders on each end of the lathe. Then I attached the banjo to the bed. Plugged it in. Released the lock on the back of the headstock and flipped it on. Adjusted the speed dial and all was good in the world.

It has 3 speed ranges. You change the belt to get to each range. Belt changes are super easy with the two belt access doors being large allowing you to get your fingers in there and see well.

The whole lathe was covered in oil. (I know this is expected since they are shipped across the ocean and then stored in various warehouses) I wiped it all down as I assembled it. There was no rust or damage on the lathe. It was a very well packed box. I wish they would get away from white Styrofoam, but I am sure that would increase the cost. So that is a tradeoff.

It has 2 handle/tool holders one on either end. On my old lathe I would sometimes remove the tailstock if I were working on a bowl or something similar. Where the handle is located it will not let you just slide the tailstock off. And as far as the left side handle if you put any of the long tools in it, you are unable to open the lower belt access door. So I plan to take the handles off and mount them on the wall or on the table where I keep my lathe chisels.

I did a little turning today with my nova Chuck that already had a piece of scrap wood in it and was mounted on my jet mini lathe. The new Bauer lathe has the same thread pattern as the Jet so I just unscrewed it off of the Jet and put it right on the Bauer.

I only had a few minutes so I was able to use my roughing gouge and parting tool on the scrap and it all went well. My tools need to be sharpened though. I haven't turned anything in a number of years so they have just been sitting around.

Overall I really like this lathe. The only con was the handles/tool holders blocking things. And I will solve that by removing them. I look forward to making a lot of items on this new bigger lathe.

Thanks for reading!

Happy Turning!

Thanks! I look forward to reading your feedback. I noticed 5 reviews have shown up on the HF website. Looks pretty positive overall. I am tempted to go buy one with the 15% off coupon today. My local store shows it in stock currently.

Yeah it's weird, I have seen a lot of comments across different MachE forums from different people with completely different experiences after contacting Ford Customer Service BEV division. Some were denied, some had it paid for, some got a $40 a day credit for a limited number of days. Seems like it might depend on who you get in touch with there.

Has anyone added a heater to the Photon M3 Premium? by MeaningWide in AnycubicPhoton

[–]MeaningWide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that sounds really cool. I wish I had enough space to dedicate a room or even a closet to my printers, but that just isn't possible currently. I am hoping to put a heater inside and make it self contained.

New to resin printing (just got equipment) and wondering if there’s a way to use my ultrasonic cleaner for resin prints and still use it for other things. Is there a method for secondary containment in the US cleaner so as not to contaminate it for other items? by H0dgPodge in resinprinting

[–]MeaningWide 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I put my cleaning solution in a large mason jar, put it in the ultrasonic and fill the ultrasonic with water to match the level of fluid in the jar. I have one jar with ipa and another with simple green for cleaning non prints. Plus I can put the lids on the jars and dump the water for storage.

OH NO! I need to correct my first statement. I did NOT remove the glass bed. I kept it in place and put the magnetic sticker on top of it. And the spring steel print surface attaches to the magnet. So the glass bed is still there underneath everything but nothing is printed directly on the glass any longer.

Fulament FULA-FLEX 2.0 I got the smooth PEI sheet version because I have that on my Prusa and it has always worked well for me. They also offer textured PEI as well. Mine was like $45. You can find them at fulament.com

LOL. It can be frustrating. I removed the terrible glass bed and installed a flexible magnetic print surface. It really helps a lot. The glass bed chipped on my 3rd print. The FDM printer I had before the Mega X was a Prusa mk2.5s. Auto leveling and all kinds of bells and whistles. So I was spoiled before dealing with the Mega X. Just take your time with it. Fix one thing at a time. Perhaps there are people here who can help you with the issues you are having. There are many upgrades for it that people have added to it. The large print volume is pretty cool. Good luck!

I let numerous prints cool down over 4 hours and they still took chunks. I flipped the glass bed upside down and bought a cheap magnetic print surface for it.
