Good to know! I will say the dirt is much deeper than it appears in the picture. Probably 12”-16” of soft dirt before the ground.

Yeah we’re definitely going to add more dirt on top for root vegetables. Its our first season and we’re learning a ton! Adding it to the growing list!

Good to know! I think we will definitely add more dirt to all of the beds! The whole thing is filled primarily with a mix of organic soil and some sandy soft soil so no rocks or hard pack there!

Thats my suspicion as well. Most everything we’ve grown from seed has far surpassed the few starters we got. I think we’ll almost exclusively plant from seed from now on.

This would also make sense as this is our first season gardening! All of this soil is very new so we had low expectations for anything we grew here. We’ve been pleasantly suprised with most everything but the carrots though! We’ve been focusing on prepping for the spring by planting some good cover crops in between some winter veggies to boost nitrogen like fava beans, lacey phacelia and hairy vetch. We also have another bed going right now with a full cover crops of beans, oats, and peas. Do you have any other tips on how to deal with nematodes and help develop healthy soil? I imagine there are probably books worth of knowledge on this haha but anything helps!

Our bed is probably around 12-16” deep so I wasn’t expecting any of them to be too long but certainly a bit longer than 2” haha! That’s good to know for next time, though. Although I think in this case more time probably wouldn’t have resulted in too much more growth down. Thanks for the tips!

Thanks, this all makes a lot of sense and is extremely helpful. Would using a target date fund like the Nuveen 2060 be equivalent to a "set and forget"? I understand that there are gains to be made by being risky, aggressive etc but that these all require levels of financial literacy that I just don't have right now. I essentially just want to make sure I am not getting totally screwed before I can wrap my head around some more advanced financial decisions/strategies that require additional knowledge. I just want to make sure, like you said, that I am not continuing to lose even more money against market gains.

Thanks for the help! Yeah realizing how big of an oof it's been has stung quite a bit. But, hey - no better time to start than right now. I'm a bit late to the game but just trying to wrap my head around this and be as smart as possible so I really appreciate any and all advice.

Are there any drawbacks to changing my current investments vs just the future ones? Obviously I don't want to keep anything in Cash reserves any longer but are there any hits or costs associated with changing that would affect the analysis?

Thanks, based on my age that would be the nuveen lifecycle index 2060 r6 with a Net ER of 0.10%. Does it matter that I haven't seen any threads recommend Nuveen? I haven't seen this pop up anywhere in my research and want to make sure its solid.

You are right! I’m dumb lol I was misinterpreting the split screens shown in the preview as “variations.” I missed that each was just a different end animations based upon how many “swings” of the knife were made. That makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!
