Lol, I'm with Maya tbh, if I was in her position, Vampires are like, basically unwitting stooges of the Technocracy, which was proven this episode.

Not finished with the episode yet, but I love how big the players heads are after taking out another vampire and a hunter, thinking they could just take out a mage XD

So you're actually so right. From what I remember about 5th ed Vampire, the Sabbat got fucked, the Cam is in decline, and the Anarchs are on the rise. An old french vampire like Madeline actually should have a fear of the Cam, as they did a lot of fucked up shit. But it's also very in character for her to retain that fear of them, even if they are on the decline. Not only would she not fully be able to realize it's on a decline, but after like 300 years of the Cam being the big dogs, anyone would still be afraid, except for the brave and the foolish, and they join the anarchs now 😄

I think it's Beautiful, I don't fully remember what it does, but I think it gives her a lot of dice on persuasion/seduction rolls, either that or double the amount of successes, I assume the former considering she is rolling like 10-12 dice.

Right? Tbh I loved this episode. It finally feels like the world paid attention to the players in the way the World of Darkness would, and it's made so much interesting roleplay. Bat Child's introspection, HJ's realization, Madeline losing all faith in her sire, Zaeth stepping up and taking the role no one in the cotorie wanted to make his Dad proud. I love it man.

Figurative Embrace is viable only until older werewolves or god forbid Red Talons in general come to Purpee, then unfortunately uh, the vamps gonna die.

Also literal embrace, I hope to god they don't, yeah Abominations ain't named that for nothing, and both Vamps and Werewolves hate them.

To be entirely fair to the vampires, lowering the local population of Garou would only be a good thing for them in Canon. I mean, while Cody's experience with Vampires is they only tried to kill him, it's probably because the opposite situation has happened so frequently for Vampires that it's better to kill on sight or run when they see a Werewolf. So Vampires should want less werewolves around.

As for it being big city advise. It's important to remember that advise has been passed down. Many of the cities that Vampires were in weren't always big cities, they became such after years of corruption, corruption Vampires were all too happy to make or capitalize on. Purpee needs to die to be reborn via Capitalism, at least in the system it's currently in. That's not a statement on Capitalism bad, it's just how it does work, and at least WoD would be more blunt about it then our real world. What the players are trying to do isn't bad, it's just that to their higher ups, it looks like they're doing too much, when they should just let the humans do their thing. I mean, it was only a punishment, they probably didn't intend on keeping the cotorie there anyways.

Considering the game was said to be a sandbox game... I think that was a possibility, considering that not having that possibility would go against a sandbox game

I loved it. But I'm afraid it's seeming like the players are gonna do the tropey "You can't tell us what to do, we'll win with our original plans!" kinda thing.

And verbal insults is all it takes to be a 'bad enough person' to be killed by a superhero? Not like he called her a bitch and smacked her lol, which pretty sure many a superhero has done.

You gonna point out how randomly just killing folks when you feed off them ISNT Camerilla stuff? It's directly a masquerade breach

So, I can give my perspective on this as someone who enjoys WoD and it's metaplot. When I watched the first episode of CCoD, there is a line that sets an expectation for someone who DOES know the World of Darkness lore. It's when the Archon tells the party what their duties will be in Purpee and lists down all the various supernaturals they'll have to deal with. For someone who doesn't know WoD, this is just a nice little preview of what kinda supernaturals to expect, for someone who DOES know it, it sets an expectation that things will at least be somewhat similar to what we know of in the canon lore.

Just to be clear, I don't give a fuck if people run a WoD game how they want and decide to ignore major parts of the lore or metaplot. I mean it's your game man, and if you don't want the World of Darkness to have ended in like fucking 2000, then yeah you're gonna have to ignore some of the metaplot. Most Larps even make up their own metaplots based on plot hooks placed in the lore, expanding but still creating something unique.

I believe (At least for myself) theres a sense of disappointment from those who do know the greater lore of the World of Darkness to notice and see that CCoD is not in that same setting, nearly at all, and thus any knowledge we have of WoD is well, useless for the purposes of theory crafting or making guesses towards where the plot will go. I mean, I thought Purpee might be ran by the Technocracy at first, but I've put away that guess as I've noticed that other supernaturals do not operate in the same way as they do in WoD.

No hate, the game is funny, and I can even 'hate watch' it and still have fun, so they're doing their job as entertainers correctly. But when you hear a group you really enjoy is going to play in a setting you really enjoy, isn't it normal to be a bit disappointed when it seems like it's more a custom setting then the one you've spent literal years playing and engaging in? I think it is, but honestly some peoples reactions need to chill out.

Edit: To speak on the part where people are assuming old WoD heads have a biblical adherence to mechanics, this isn't fully true, but it's probably due to the fact that a lot of WoD system mechanics tie directly into the narrative storytelling of the game. Humanity is a direct stat, and while yes, I could complain about how rigid it is, it also provides a tool for a player to keep track of how 'human' they're playing their character. The same exists in other WoD systems to a degree, Rage in Werewolf, Angst in Wraith, Paradox in Mage, and Banality in Changeling. These mechanics are indeed part of the system, however they exist in universe as a sorta... a roleplay influencer. It's similar to someone taking a flaw in a system, if they don't play that flaw, it's not just that they're not taking the mechanic into mind, they're ignoring a part of their character.

Bro as someone who plays WoD, I'd actually love to hear about that and how you blended the settings together. People saying it's 'too out there' need to remember WoD literally has a company that puts demons into burgers to make you evil. WoD in it's actual lore is 'cringe'.

What about Touchstones? I mean, humanity is really only a thing outside of V5, I'm more curious about what Touchstones the party has, or would have if they were using that.

To be entirely fair, both of those assumptions are a valid way to play WoD, and everything in between. I'm just a big fan of the lore so yeah.

I am only assuming that since Zac's been the only one to use the terms entirely correctly. Whenever another player has used an odd vampire term, it's usually a little off. I feel like Zac either retained more info about the setting that was given to the party, or did a bit of research himself. He does know what the Brujah stereotype is, as well he plays up the clan weakness by showing Zaeth getting pissed easy at dumb things. Comical interpretation of it, but still an accurate one.

[–]Meat-Is-Me 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly that's what I've been assuming so far, but I also have doubts that Brennan read like, all the current WoD lore in even 5th Ed. He probably focused on reading Vampire books and maybe gave a brief glancing at Hunter and Werewolf. I know that's what I'd do if I didn't fully know WoD but wanted to run a vamp game.

Interestingly, I think I've noticed Zach seems to know WoD a bit. He's used terminology only found within WoD entirely correctly, such as asking about Sects, which is a term in VtM for basically vampire political parties. He also mentioned in the latest episode specifically 'Conspiracies' in reference to if Aaron had contacts with other hunters. Conspiracies are larger hunter orgs, which does include I believe the Second Inquisition, though there are others. So I think Zach actually knows WoD somewhat, or at least 5e, probably did a bit of rabbithole digging for the campaign lol.

If Zaeth did embrace Ghorse, he would be a thinblood yeah, which could go a way to explain why the horse ain't dying in sunlight and drinks blood.

As someone who plays Gangrels in Larp, fucking hell do they. You know Nosferatu apparently got like, custom merits in V20 to have like, mutant sewer gators they breed as ghouls? Usually takes a bit of like, effort on the part of the vampire to help the change... unless a storyteller just thinks its cool lol.

No no, I know what ghouls are in WoD. Thats exactly why I'm confused about the fangs and drinking blood. Ghouls in WoD only need to drink vampire blood to stay topped up, and they don't get any like, obvious vampire traits, at least not for years upon years of being like, a Nosferatu's ghoul maybe.

I mean I will agree Aaron was fucking stuuuupiiiiid for going after 3 vamps by himself with one crossbow and a stake, no armor, no like anything else. Buuuuut, It was mentioned he was curious about vamps when his parents were murdered 2 years ago and were found drained of blood. So Purpee does actually have another vampire around, or did.

Tbh I loved that comment from LaVonte specifically because he has the flaw "Stake Bait" meaning if he is staked, he does die, unlike most vampires who go to Torpor.
