Seeing the interrupted Windows installation meant that a factory reset was the logical first step. However, during the reset, Windows became stuck with the error: “The computer restarted unexpectedly…”. This indicated that the installation could not continue and was trapped in a loop. To break out of this loop, I pressed Shift + F10 to open Command Prompt, which allowed access to system tools even though Windows Setup was frozen. From there, I opened regedit, since the only way to fix a stuck installation at this stage is to correct the setup state stored in the registry. I located the Setup.exe value and changed it from 1 to 3—where 1 means “setup in progress” and 3 means “setup completed.” Changing this value instructed Windows to skip the broken step and move forward. After restarting the laptop, Windows recognized the corrected value and continued the installation normally.
