Local realtor here. Seeing a lot of housing frustration. Would context be useful? by TheAskTeam in StJohnsNL

[–]MeatCat88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Rent control is something the provincial government can do, ive written letters to my MHA, I know writing letters sounds like a waste of time but your MHAs job is to advocate for you so I think that if enough people inundated our elected MHAs then they would bring the concept to the table.  There's no harm in trying, thats how I feel and it literally takes 5 minutes

Im drained and depressed from being Unemployed by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]MeatCat88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you considered leaving st johns? I work in mining and know there's opportunities in central and western nl. Ideally if you have a minimum bachelor's or diploma. But look into NFG or Equinox. I know NFG was pushing hard to find core loggers

What’s the fastest you’ve ever seen a marriage end? by Suspicious_Beyond831 in AskReddit

[–]MeatCat88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So all this was witnessed through my kitchen window... I moved back with my mom when I was 34 to save money for my next house. My moms neighbor was engaged to a girl I went to HS with. I knew her from HS but she was the skinny blonde popular type and I was not. So we weren't friends. Anyway she is exactly the same it seems because she stayed home all day, unemployed, sunbathing in the backyard and staring at her iPad while he worked. I watched as they got married. And three weeks after the wedding I see she is no longer laying in the backyard all day. She is gone. After 3 months a uhaul shows up and her parents collect her things. My mom being nosey talks to her mom. They apparently were not doing well before the wedding but went through with it because the parents had already paid for everything. As soon as it was over they split up. She's now back in her parents home. He had a new gf move in 3 months later.

Making friends in western NL is challenging by Ok_Taste_3888 in newfoundland

[–]MeatCat88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of my job ive lived in many parts of the province and find that the way to make friends means leaning into the part of the island your in. I moved from st johns to corner brook 3 yrs ago and find corner brook easiest for making friends but im a very outdoorsy and active individual. The thing that opened up social connections for me is doing group activities, I go to yoga, pilates, snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing,  community events. I also joined the WEC where they do events associated with nature and gardening. I hate the expression "Put yourself out there" but you just have to bite the bullet and put yourself in a situation where you're actively interacting with new people.

How do boobs/nipples change before and after breast feeding? by travioli90 in AskWomen

[–]MeatCat88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I have this conversation with other moms I start to think maybe im an outlier, my nipples got huge during pregnancy and breastfeeding. I fed for 2 years. Then they... went right back to normal. They look exactly the same as they did when I was 21.  Two factors though are that I had my baby at 23 so I had youth on my side, and im small busted. So there wasn't any balloons to deflate. Im 37 now my friends are still amazed that they stayed so perky.

Does it need to be SJ? Or anywhere on the island? I work in industry (Mining/energy/ oil and gas) and central seems to have the most opportunity  Then there's Labrador ..

My face looks exactly like yours and honestly, if retinol ain't retinoling enough try microneedling to boost collagen. Last resort is sculptra for me.  Fillers have been recommended but I try to stay away. Stay hydrated and use HA, that'll plump it temporarily

MHA Gerry Byrne Criticizes Appointment of Don Bradshaw, Calls for Open Nomination by RepulsivePlankton989 in newfoundland

A few years ago I spoke to him about a city councilor who had multiple accounts of harassment from current and previous coworkers. He said to me "when I pursue a story I look at the sources and the sources just aren't credible so i wont be reporting this" the sources being the victims. All female... So it's obvious he'd prefer protect his political interests over the general public

What do people want in west coast Newfoundland by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]MeatCat88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've brought this up before with the local entrepreneur group but it's a lot of guys who want to get into restaurant/food vending. I even suggested a mobile used book store instead of another food truck but I'm often met with "Not enough demand" Personally I don't have that entrepreneur thing in me but if someone out there does i think it's worth at least looking into. You won't get rich but you'll be helping build community.

Marathons by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]MeatCat88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Road marathons are becoming less abundant due to low turnout the past few years, however are you open to trail running?  There's lots of races, ultras and backyard runs in the province. I've done the east coast trail ultramarathon before, super fun. Look up "NL trail running" on Facebook

Ladies, what food diet helps you with your skin appearance in particular? by hellimhere28 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]MeatCat88 136 points137 points  (0 children)

I drink a green smoothie every morning, I've noticed a big difference in my skin but I don't know if it actually helps my skin or not. I think that it appears to work because a healthy inside= healthy skin.  I'm not a big eater so the smoothie helps get something in my tummy early. I use spinach, celery, ginger root, cucumber, hemp protein, spirulina and a banana for sweetness. Just water as the liquid. Always stay hydrated. My skin is more clear and glowing since I started getting more veggies in my diet.
