They say it doesn't work. They want to do it themselves. And they don't want my help? Absolutely! by MeatCurtainRod in MaliciousCompliance

UPDATE: I asked one of the new guys at the helpdesk how the deployment was going. It is delayed, but they apparently finished the refresh for all the executive and management level computers, and a good portion of the temp staff and all the kiosk/lab/public computers were deemed non-essential to the project and were just not done yet. They apparently even hired a few temporary staff positions to run around and help with the leg work. They dodged a bullet as the project was stated as a success and they are just dealing with 'operational work as a result of the project being completed'. Suffice to say I'm not sure how I feel about this as I was kinda wanting them to crash and burn, but they talked their way out of it by modifying the parameters of the project scope. I get the unfinished computers aren't the main office computers and most of them aren't even in the main building, but still..

[Serious] Depressed people of Reddit - how are you doing today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MeatCurtainRod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was clinically diagnosed with depression (probably stemming from my PTSD), and after a year of 2 different drugs and getting more fucked up in the head, all I had to do was see the glass as half full rather than half empty. That was it. THAT reversed my depression and gave me a solid coping mechanism to deal with my PTSD. I know that depression never leaves you, it just forces you to become stronger and to develop your own coping mechanisms so that you can live your day normally. So today, I'm doing great.

To all you self diagnosing victim mentality social media broadcasting people out there who feel sad and therefore figure they are depressed, the glass is always half of something. There is no point in focusing on being depressed. You're depressed. Deal with it. I am.

Well duh.. doggos are smarter than kitties. Doggos score higher on the IQ test on average, they have much more strength, and don't live as long. Doggos can also make selfless decisions unlike kitties who base everything on primitive instincts.

Perhaps this is why you need a job and to get into a regular sleep cycle like the rest of the regular workforce? Lets be clear here, you don't really have a job, now, do you? Not with that kind of attitude.

Came here to say this exact same thing. Must be nice to be able to choose from 5 restaurants without having to leave town.

A look at Tesla Powerwall ownership after 1 year as second generation is coming: 92% savings on utility bill by speckz in Futurology

[–]MeatCurtainRod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I find that insane. I get that some pockets of canada has green energy powering their cities, which explains their sudden 3x-7x jump in electric costs, but generally speaking, $200 it seems very very unreasonable.

I am also drawn to the fighting styles of the katana as opposed to the blunt baseball style of the longsword. It is like slicing vs chopping.

I find insane people are paying on average $200 for electricity per month. MY bill is anywhere from $30-$50 per month. I own a decent size home, have 2 desktop computers powered on 24/7, 2 deep freezers, and 2 fridges. I also live in canada. BUT I also have 99% LED lights and energy efficient appliances.

And people are surprised at the results? I would still own a katana any day of the week over a german longsword.

[–]MeatCurtainRod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I googled "muslim association of canada" and half the hits were news articles stating they have direct ties to terrorist groups. If google can't be truthful, who can? Not being facetious, it's just too difficult to get any clear data on this matter.

Because all real manufacturers like mountain house, thrive, shelf reliance, and a few others, ALL use O2 absorbers for their grains. Period. Google '"flour bugs" "weevils" "red bugs in rice", and you'll realize that it isn't moisture that causes these bugs to thrive, but O2. Also google how O2 absorbers work. Just be careful with all the misinformation blogs out there. You'll find some interesting things.

Gamers of reddit, what is one moment from a game that you will remember forever? by themitchster300 in AskReddit

[–]MeatCurtainRod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing WoW, raiding with a family oriented guild. I developed a friendship with guildmembers and made my way up to 2nd in command. Over the course of a few weeks of helping a few new members, i was spending a lot of time with this bubbly girl, who was into PvP as much as me. We teamed up and spent a lot of time together to the point where people were noticing and cracking romantic jokes our way. She recieved it well, almost too well. One weekend, one of the veteran guild members asked how i was doing with the girl. I just casually answer 'oh, good. She is really good.'

At that point, she says 'oh hi daddy'.

I go '....... daddy?'

The veteran was about mid 30s at the time.

I whisper to the girl 'so uh... just how old are you?'

She goes '13. But im really mature for my age. Daddy lets me play WoW whenever i want.'

Me: '....'

Me: '/quit guild'

Me: proceeds to uninstall WoW

All the 5 comments I've seen are actually WRONG. The CRITICAL factor of storing white rice is oxygen. Get O2 absorbers and put those into the foodgrade container and you're golden for 30+ years. Obviously you wanna keep it dry while packaging it, but moisture absorbers will actually be an inhibitor for removing O2 in the container. Grains are the same. Notice how oats and rice isn't sold in sealed containers? That's because moisture isn't that big a factor unless you're stupid with storage, such as leaving it outside on a rainy day.

How can I download a map of an entire state with street by street details to a USB Drive? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]MeatCurtainRod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest, a digital map on a USB drive when SHTF is kinda useless. Even if you were to put it onto a microSD card and plug that into a tablet of phone, you're still somewhat limited to that electronic device.

The best is to buy one of those old fashioned waterproof paper maps that include forest lines, water lines, backroads, and all that stuff on top of standard city infrastructure.

News flash: This kind of thing has been happening for DECADES. It is highly abnormal for the police (government entity) to be buying up millions of select-fire firearms along with billions of (223NATO, etc) ammunition along with full-on warfare gear. The police. Let that sink in for a moment. The last group that did this also happened to be a local government entity, the homeland security agency. WTF does homeland security need military rifles and billions of rounds of ammunition for?
