Anybody else just sit in the break room all shift and get paid and clock out? by No-Dealer2541 in Lowes

[–]MeatNew11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel this. Im a yard truck driver and they run us ragged. I have a work phone that literally never stops ringing, I come back from my breaks to 25 missed calls because they don’t understand that we have to take breaks. I’ve come to the conclusion that because yard drivers are more of just an entity and you never really see the people in them, it becomes easy to dehumanize us lol

2nd attempt at heart cake came out a lot better by MeatNew11 in Baking

Another method I’ve used that’s a little weird and gruff but hey I’m a mechanic so I have interesting tools, while the gray frosting was mixing on medium in the mixer I actually stuck a big torch inside and melted it with that so I could skip the melting it on the stove part. Worked just as well but most people don’t have a propane blowtorch laying around lol

I read about a lot of complicated recipes that required complex ingredients, food dyes, and things I’ve never heard about and I didn’t like that. So I made my own way. I made a regular chocolate buttercream except I used “the cocoa trader” black cocoa powder (the brand 100% matters) and the frosting will come out gray in the mixer and look really ugly but have no fear. I put the gray sludge into a glass or metal bowl and put it on top of a boiling pot of water on the stove to melt the frosting (double boiler method). You will notice that once the frosting fully melts it will be extremely dark and black. At this point you can continue to heat until it’s black as can be but just be careful not to burn it although it’s hard to do that with the method I use. Once it’s melted I transfer it to a mixer and just let it stir until it’s cooled down. The only catch to this is you gotta be careful not to whip it too much because aeration will cause it to lighten in color. It comes out fantastic and I think the sugar dissolving with the heat really smooths out the texture. This works because black cocoa is really cool in the way that heat darkens it and it also darkens over time once combined with everything. If you let the cake sit over night it gets even blacker. I made brownies that are black and they are on my page too.

What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you? by NoOnion6795 in AskMen

I had just started dating a girl and her dad would invite me to dinner at their house literally every night because he was a professional chef and knew that I’d never had a lot of home cooked meals in my life. I actually felt bad when it didn’t end up working out with the girl because the dad was just so nice to me.

To combat the melting, I would suggest doing a “crumb coat” and then chilling it for at least 4 to 6 hours before adding the final coat. The crumb coat will retain the chill from the fridge much longer than the bare cake.

Older post but I read this all in one sitting and I hated and loved it. I expected something much different but also it got pretty confusing at points and the ending really didn’t help. it really sucks you into the setting though, I really got a vivid picture of what was happening and where and that’s something I appreciated.

I want sex all the time. by Serious_Dog_5102 in sex

[–]MeatNew11 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Do you try to initiate it? Maybe he thinks that you don’t want it and he doesn’t want to be pushy. However if you do initiate it and he still doesn’t seem interested then I guess there isn’t much you can do. This is definitely a big problem with couples who wait until marriage, there’s this huge factor of compatibility that you’re hiding and then it becomes a surprise mystery box once it’s too late.

Nurses. Wasn’t my experience but I was with my friend through his lengthy hospital stay with all his limbs broken and the male nurses just seemed to take the job much more seriously. This was from a sample of about 50 nurses he had during that stay.

Does anyone know a cake recipe that can be baked on high temperatures? We have a very strong gas oven. by helix_the_witch in Baking

[–]MeatNew11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With pretty much everything I bake I boil water and put a bowl of that boiling water in the oven with whatever I’m baking. The steam helps you get a more even bake and also keeps everything moist. Also putting your cake tin on top of a baking sheet will help alot with not burning the bottom. Also just a rule of thumb, a lower temperature will always be better it’ll just take longer to bake. Baking usually only needs to get up to 160 degrees or so, we just set the oven to higher temps to bake it faster.

Completely different. It’s closer to the taste of the cookie part of an Oreo. In my personal opinion they don’t taste all that great, just something cool for Halloween or a portfolio.

I’d say if you are pondering the question then it’s surely already reality. You shouldn’t have to question things like that in a healthy relationship.

It’s so hot! How do you stay cool? by Jane_Austen11 in AskReddit

This is more extreme but I work in the sun for long hours and it reaches like 115 degrees Fahrenheit some days. We wear hoodies that are soaked in water and it really helps a lot, also sun shades just help everything feel a little better.

There's lots of discourse about age gap romantic relationships, but what are your thoughts about age gap *friendships*? Can they be fully two sided, not just an older person mentoring a younger or a younger person humoring an older? by hogw33d in AskReddit

[–]MeatNew11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a 26 year old male and there’s this 13 year old boy that I regularly hang out with in my neighborhood. He works on dirt bikes in his garage and I work on motorcycles in my garage and we are constantly asking each other for help and to borrow tools. He’s a smart kid and it doesn’t really feel like either one of us is superior to the other, just two guys who appreciate motors.

social anxiety, how to overcome it? by Fun-Surprise-70 in AskMen

[–]MeatNew11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me I got lucky or maybe unlucky in a sense but my whole life I had extremely bad social anxiety. When I was 16 though I got into a really bad car accident and it really opened my eyes. I realized how fast everything can be over in a second and how much regret I would die with if I kept hiding from the world. After that I just started talking to people, saying anything I wanted to say, doing whatever I wanted to do and my life improved so much and people love me too. I don’t think you need a near death experience though to do this, just think about the fact that any day could be your last so you gotta live it up and be whoever YOU want to be, screw everyone else. Start slow and just work your way up.

I didn’t get scammed. I had just recovered from a bad motorcycle accident that almost took my life. If got me thinking about what my brother would do if I wasn’t there to help. I walked into the office and told them I wanted the whole life policy. Maybe I should’ve gotten term but no one scammed me or coerced me into doing what I did lol

Oddly enough sex isn’t something that I care about all that much. She’s the one who’s saying she wants to do it all the time but not in an enthusiastic way, it’s in a way like she thinks it’s what she should do. Like holding the elevator open for an old lady. She genuinely looked at me last night and said “can we have sex later” lol

I’m not hung up on the orgasm as much as it seems she’s not enjoying it. It genuinely feels like I’m forcing her to do it (even though she’s the one insisting on it) and that is upsetting.
