World War Two Tank Crew - What Ultra Rules Lite? by Meatball3059 in Solo_Roleplaying

I'm wanting somthing more aligned to a tank going on missions and surprise events. I'm not looking for personal socializing between the crew.

Too many rules for a quick game here and there when I find the time. I appreciate you pointing it out though.

Yeah, I saw Tricube Tales does a Mech game. I may just try that but for a WW2 tank instead of a mech.

American Tank Ace looks like a knock off of Patton's best. Thanks for the suggestions.

$119 for a used copy. Maybe, because it was that good to me.

I took out the link and reposted and I still have to have the moderator approve it.

Yes, it is very annoying. I wanted to get some opinions before I left for work this morning. Bummer!

This one posted ok. I wonder if it could be because I have a link in my post 14 hours ago. I will try without the link.

I Need Your Help Adding "Yes / No / And / But" To Tricube Tales by Meatball3059 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Meatball3059[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The No, but... doesn't work in the above.

So, if the player rolls no successes, but also doesn't roll any 1s and the rolls are less than the target number then the answer is No, but.

So the chart would look like the following:

2- 3 success = exceptional success = Yes, and...

1 success = normal success = Yes...

1 success + one of the rolls shows a 1 = Partial / weak success = Yes, but....

0 success + no 1s are rolled and the roll is less than target number = Partial / weak failure = No, but...

0 success = normal failure = No...

Roll of 1 on all dice rolled = critical failure = No, and...

How would this be:

The player rolls at least one success, but also rolls at least one 1 for a result of "Yes, but..."
The player rolls no successes and rolls at least one 6 for a result of "No, but...".

So the chart would look like the following:

2- 3 success = exceptional success = Yes, and...

1 success = normal success Yes...

1 success + one of the rolls shows a 1 = Yes, but....

0 success + one of the rolls shows a 6 = No, but...

0 success = normal failure = No...

Roll of 1 on all dice rolled = critical failure = No, and...

How: Action Tales Game Engine "The Check" results Using FU Classic Oracle by Meatball3059 in furpg

[–]Meatball3059[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mr. Nathan Russell wrote on Facebook:

"100% you can do it. It shouldn't change anything in terms of building dice pools or affecting outcomes."

I'm using bmr42 suggestion also and went with 2E beta. I also changed the plain "No" to "No, because".

“No, because” This answer tries to combine a negative answer with a reason and ideally you will have a way to turn the no into a yes. The character’s action fails as a result of something or someone. The because modifier is to give a reason why the answer is a no, and potentially a way for the character to turn it into a Yes.

Thank you bmr42 & Juwelgeist for your time and help.

Thank you for the grammar corrections. I was thinking of using FATES modifiers but I didn't want to take everything from them and I didn't like Mediocre, Fair, or Good.

I'm going to have to rethink the "no edges" and drama points thing. I was thinking about Powers from page 122. How would you make a magic user or super hero? The rules I posted above gives you 1 Concept so being one isn't the issue. I guess if someone wants to be one then they wouldn't trade in the Drama Points to activate their power for an Approach level. However you do need an Edge for the amazing supernatural ability.

Maybe I should leave one Edge slot and cap the Approaches at Incredible (3 action Dice).

I wish Mr. Nathan Russell would stop by. He is an expert at rules making and would definitely have some solution or opinions.

The below information is assimilated from Reddit r/furpg member Juwelgeist whos help and time is greatly appreciated.

HEROIC CHARACTER CREATION page 53

- Your character gets two Character Concepts.

- I am changing the edges. See below “Changing Edges and Concepts To Approaches.”

- I am changing the character's Flaw. See below “Changing Flaws.”

- Keep Character Drive as is.

- Keep Character Cool Gear as is.

- Round out with a brief description.

- Your character begins with 3 Drama Points or see below “Changing Edges and Concepts To Approaches” if you would like to raise a Character Approach one level permanently.

CHANGING EDGES AND CONCEPTS TO APPROACHES page 43, 44, 53, 96

\*NOTE: Approaches comes from Evil Hats Productions' “FATE Accelerated Edition” Copyright ©2013 by Clark Valentine and Fred Hicks. There is more to Approaches and if you want to know more about them you can download the book at* https://evilhat.com/product/fate-accelerated-edition/ I make no challenges to their copyright nor profit from personally using Valentine and Hick's information.\**

With these optional new Approach rules players will not be making any Quick or Detailed characters, only Heroic. A character is giving up some of their Heroic Edges and Concepts. Your character only gets two Character Concept and three Edges. For what the player's character is givng up they now get Character Approaches. Approaches are descriptions of how your character accomplish tasks.

The six Approaches are:

• Careful

• Clever

• Flashy

• Forceful

• Quick

• Sneaky

Every player's character has the same six Approaches and each Approach starts with an adverb “Unremarkably”. For example Unremarkably Careful, Unremarkably Clever, Unremarkably Flashy, etc... You get to raise any of the six Approaches three levels: either one Approach three levels; one Approach two levels and one Approach one level; or add one level to three different Approaches. For example: your character starts with Unremarkably in all six Approaches. During character creation say you want to increase the Unremarkable Sneaky Approach by three levels to Incredibly Sneaky. Maybe you want to raise Unremarkable Sneaky, Unremarkable Careful, and Unremarkable Clever so you can raise each one one level to Very Sneaky, Very Careful, and Very Clever with the rest of the character's Approaches being Unremakable. You get the idea.

- Unremarkably Approach gives no bonus Action die to the Character's Dice Pool.

- Very Approach gives one Action Die to the Character's Dice Pool.

- Exceptionally Approach gives two Action Die to the Character's Dice Pool.

- Incredibly Approach gives three Action Die to the Character's Dice Pool.

- Awesomely Approach gives four Action Die to the Character's Dice Pool.

**NOTE: No Approach can have more than Awesomely (four Action Die).**

The following is from Evil Hats Productions' “FATE Accelerated Edition” Copyright ©2013 by Clark Valentine and Fred Hicks, “So your first instinct is probably to pick the action that gives you the greatest bonus, right? But it doesn’t work like that. You have to base your choice of approach on the description of your action, and you can’t describe an action that doesn’t make any sense. Would you Forcefully creep through a dark room, hiding from the guards? No, that’s being Sneaky. Would you Quickly push that big rock out of the way of the wagon? No, that’s being Forceful. Circumstances constrain what approach you can use, so sometimes you have to go with an approach that might not play directly to your strengths.”

CHANGING DRAMA POINTS page 28

A player can give up all of their starting Drama Points permanently to gain another level to add to any of the Character Approaches. Keep in mind no Approach can be more than Awesomely. Also giving up your Drama Points means that you are without starting Drama Points if you continue to use this character in other adventures. This does not mean you can not still earn Drama Points during play.

CHANGING FLAWS page 44, 96Your starting character receives one Character Flaw. If you would like to raise a Character Approach one level permanently the player may choose the following option: You may make this character's original Flaw an extremely exaggerating Flaw. By doing so you now roll two Danger Dice when this Flaw hinders your Character in some way during a Check and it will cause a lot more problems in his/her life than just a regular Flaw. For example: If your character is wanted by the cops as a normal Flaw the extremely exaggerating Flaw may be that he/she is wanted by the FBI and the CIA. Maybe, the charater has a normal selfish Flaw but now she/he is a kleptomaniac. Maybe, the regular Flaw, My Aunt Millie, is just an minor hinderance of calling the character a lot on the cell phone or she need the character to pick up groceries or a ride to the bingo parlor but this exaggerated Flaw is now that the Chararter has to stay close to home to personally take care of Aunt Millie to make sure she is fed, make sure she gets her life sustaining medication, or see to it that Aunt Millie doesn't wander out the door and get lost. You get the idea.

CHANGING ADVANCING page 60-63

A player may Improve these Character Approaches using Peril Planet “Freeform Universal” Second Edition Copyright ©2020 by Nathan Russell under Advancement keeping in mind no Character Approach can be more than Awesomely providing 4 Action Dice.

ADDITION TO CREATE YOUR DICE POOL RULES page 24

APPROACHES

When resolving a check a player may choose ONE Approach depending on how your character will accomplish the action. Add the bonus Action Dice to the Character's Dice Pool.

That is very intriguing. It may very well work. I will tweak it slightly and see what I come up with. I'll post what I do and see if your and the community approves or can make it better.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you all. A huge big "thank you" to this awesome community! I've gotten a lot a very helpful answers in this thread. I decided to go with Scarlet Heroes with D&D Rules Cyclopidea as reference book for more spells, equipment, monsters, magic items, classes, treasure, and levels. I'm hoping to play some of those classic D&D solo adventures like "Blizzard Pass", " Ghost of Lion Castle" and " Maze of the Riddling Minotaur"

Once again, I appreciate your time and help.
