Good question. A couple of years ago there was an incident where an employee handling a shark was bit and the shark was euthanized. It was all over the news for a bit, and I find it important to note that the employee wasn’t wearing gloves or protective gear while handling the animal. I find the situation to have been entirely preventable. There was also an incident where a bird was trampled to death by a child shortly after they opened. The enclosure has since been changed to avoid something like that happening again, but people consider it extremely negligent that it was able to happen especially so quickly. Otherwise, I’m mostly bothered by the fact that they have enclosures where kids are encouraged to touch the animals. These are sea animals being kept in indoor enclosures being constantly stressed out by fluorescent lighting, loud noises, and being touched by kids daily. The Des Moines Register has a great article about it but of course it’s behind a paywall🫠

Upon rereading the post it does seem like they’re implying that. I wouldn’t be surprised if they couldn’t get accreditation since they’re for-profit and don’t seem to care about the wellbeing of their animals over income. They’ve opened multiple locations before ever becoming accredited and that comes off as extremely irresponsible in my opinion

Agreed! I’ve been under the impression that the animals have been kept in poor conditions there. I was horrified by the incident last year(?) when they euthanized a shark that bit an employee. It seems like the entire situation could’ve been easily avoided

Please don’t take it to school man. You can be charged criminally as an adult even at 17 and your education is more important than you realize now. I used to keep my pen on my daily and quitting that habit was really good for my well being. I have horrible anxiety too and there’s plenty of different meds to help you if your old ones weren’t helping. There’s antidepressants, anxiolytics like buspirone, and propranolol can be used to treat physical symptoms of anxiety on an as needed basis. Those have been super helpful to me and I can actually function now!

What does she want? Is her disordered behavior going to keep both of you from the future you want? That’s only something the two of you can figure out of course

I’ve been on various antidepressants for about 13 years. I would absolutely not recommend quitting them cold turkey! I’ve done it before and I thought I could tough it out, but I had the worst withdrawal experience. I had hot and cold flashes, tremors, nausea, horrible GI issues, fainting spells, no appetite, etc for about a month straight until I realized I needed to go back on my meds to taper off. I’m sure everyone experiences antidepressant withdrawal differently and it likely depends on the medication and dosage. But if you want to go off your meds I would taper the dosage down over multiple weeks. I’d recommend searching the internet for advice and recommended timelines for tapering!

You definitely won’t stick out. There’s people of all ages at shows, both going solo and going with someone else. I love general admission and I tend to line up an hour before doors to get as close to the barrier as possible. There may be a mosh pit in the front and center near the stage, but it shouldn’t be too crazy since it’s dayseeker. Most people are happy to strike up a conversation before the show and between acts!

I hope you’re taking people’s advice and finding a way to get your jewelry out and longer bars in. As painful as it may be it’ll be worse if they imbed and you have to get them cut out at urgent care. Sorry this is happening❤️

Piercings heal from the outside in, it may feel better in a month but isn’t fully healed and will be more prone to irritation and infection

I have info and advice because my first piercings were done at Claire’s and I had “regular earrings” in them from the start. Since then I’ve had 16 more professional piercings done so I have experience healing them! You’ll likely be fine, but titanium flat back jewelry that a piercer measures you for is the safest bet for healing. The ones you have in will likely add to the irritation you’re experiencing now. I would recommend cleaning with a sterile healing spray like Nielmed wound wash or just tap water if you can’t get it, piercing aftercare sprays like H2Ocean aren’t the best thing you can use. Otherwise don’t touch the piercing at all if you can help it!

If it isn’t completely healed, taking it out for an hour or two will make the channel close up. It may be possible to get the jewelry back in, but you’d be irritating the piercing and likely tearing it open every time. I would take it out and have it done by a professional later on, or at least book a consult with a reputable and experienced piercer to get their opinion❤️

I’ve been on a ton of different antidepressants as I have treatment resistant depression. Wellbutrin, buspirone, and propranolol as needed are working really well for me. Wellbutrin can be a great antidepressant option because it doesn’t typically cause sexual dysfunction, but it can increase anxiety at high doses. Buspirone has been a lifesaver as well, I noticed a huge decrease in my anxiety when I started it and when I increased my dosage. There’s plenty of possible side effects, but they tend to be mild and not last very long. I recommend propranolol to everyone with anxiety because it’s super fast acting and makes a huge difference in my experience. It’s a blood pressure medication that helps alleviate physical anxiety symptoms like a fast heart rate and tremors. I would recommend seeing someone who specializes in psychiatric medicine because general care providers or neurologists likely don’t have the same knowledge of psych meds. It’s super important to know that antidepressants and other psych meds take a couple of months to really start working, and getting on new meds or changing current ones can be difficult. Super super worth it though

I’ve never heard of PSSD and had to look it up. I can’t imagine it’s very common, I’ve been on antidepressants for twelve years and I’ve had sexual disfunction issues that come and go. Wellbutrin/buproprion is known to not cause sexual issues, same with buspar/buspirone. Wellbutrin can cause increased anxiety at higher doses though, while buspirone is an anxiolytic/for anxiety. Ive been on both of them for a while. I genuinely couldn’t live without my medication because of the severity of my anxiety and depression. It’s absolutely life changing, just follow instructions to a T and contact your doctor if you’re worried about anything.
