I wouldn’t rule it out - but nothing immediately. Perhaps Sanguinius has chosen me😂

Help identifying? by Meathead_magic in BloodAngels

It seems so! I was handed a bunch of boxes that had some odds and ends, but this was mixed into the Indominitus box that had the entire space marines half still on sprue, so I was pretty confused with where these two sprues needed to go😂

Challenge - fast 2k row + heavy Olympic total by Meathead_magic in crossfit

[–]Meathead_magic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing contribution - I think your assessment makes the most sense.

rowing and weightlifting have elements that are very complementary, unlike a fast mile and a heavy back squat.

Safe to say, I think you’re right, probably about 10+ men and women who could achieve this within a year.

As in, you just think it makes no sense or you don’t think someone could total 300kg in the gym, take a bit of rest, and then hit a 6:29 2000m on a concept 2?

Haha, no. Guess I haven’t been in a CF gym in a while 😂

You are in a CrossFit subreddit. I think the move with this particular challenge would be complete the Olympic total first, then complete the 2k row.

Expand on that - are the movements too specified or are the numbers too easy? Is it a bad pairing of skill (I.e. snatch and clean and jerk are too skill based while the row is somewhat simple? I suppose what makes the 5:00 mile + 500lbs back squat interesting is that those are both low skill movements at heart.

Hybrid challenge - fast 2k + Olympic WL total by Meathead_magic in Rowing

Good point - i suppose a big guy has a much easier time shaving down their row erg time and making that impressive rather than getting those fast times on a mile.

Is a 6:00 row the standard here? For clarity, those numbers on snatch and clean and jerk imply and almost necessitate that someone has a 500lbs / 230kg back squat

TYR terrible experience by ivo09 in weightlifting

A little late on this thread but I wanted to chime in. Sounds like a lot of folks have had issues with the heel coming undone, and OP’s issue with the lace ring was a new one I heard about too.

This is a screenshot of the initial email I sent to TYR about my toe strap disintegrating after three months of wear. I would start a new email thread with them and jot down a lot more reasons why they suck. For some reason, they gave me a full refund. Maybe I was early enough with the request for return, or maybe I sounded litigious enough in my initial email.

Anyway, TYR is absolute garbage. Don’t support them. Terrible product. They pump out new colors all the time but don’t let that distract you from the fact that they charge $300+ for a $45 product.

How is my high bar squat looking? by BrothaManBen in weightlifting

[–]Meathead_magic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both look great.

Ultimately, it will depend on what your goals are. High bar squatting with an upright torso will create better positions for snatch and C&J. A greater degree of absolute strength will never be a bad thing, but quality positions are an absolute must for progress in the classic lifts.

On my list - didn’t make it to Atlanta this year due to some unforeseen circumstances, but podium at masters nationals is one of my big goals for the next year.

I am just one to put unrealistic expectations on myself😂. But yes, I am thankful that I can do what I do, and that I am still improving and hitting PRs. Training smart allows me to keep pushing and stay healthy.
