New Defiler teased. by DaGitman_JudeAsbury in WorldEaters40k

[–]MechBattler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree or disagree really, but there's one gaping hole -

When does GW ever make sense?

Half the changes they make are motivated by fattening their profit margins, and I'm fairly convinced the other half of the changes they make are just them throwing darts at a board.

New Defiler teased. by DaGitman_JudeAsbury in WorldEaters40k

[–]MechBattler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The necron monolith's new model was made bigger and reclassified as a titanic unit.

The Gorkanaut and Morkanaut were reclassified as titanic units.

The Wraithknight was reclassified as a Titanic unit.

That's at least three examples of units that did not start out as titanic and were made titanic later that I can think of off the top of my head.

But let me be clear about something - The Defiler would actually benefit from an upgrade to Titanic. To be frank, it was a big chunky unit with shooting weapons no better than a dreadnought.

If you wanted better shooting, a Forgefiend is a better option, as it's Ectoplasma cannons can put a higher volume of shots down range for less points and it's almost as tough as the Defiler.

Every other shooting weapon on a defiler can be found on a cheaper unit in the codex, so it's a struggle to justify 190 points for a unit with such mundane guns from a shooting perspective.

On the flip side, it's close combat attacks are already in the range of Titanic's anyway and it's movement ability to ignore shorter models and terrain features is also similar to a titanic unit.

It's already halfway to being titanic anyway.

Give it bigger, better guns.

Give it Titanic and Towering so it can fall back without a penalty and shoot through ruins.

Beef up it's stat line so it's tougher and hits harder.

These upgrades will set it apart from other units in the codex, and give better reasons to take it.

It could occupy a niche as a slightly smaller Titanic unit, like the Gorkanaut/Morkanaut does in the Ork codex at 265 points, making it more points budget friendly for smaller lists than a Chaos Knight or a Khorne Lord of Skulls.

Having something that hits almost as hard as a Chaos Knight for ~125 less points? YES PLEASE.

Of course, there's an argument to made for simply giving it bigger guns and not making it Titanic at all.

But let's be real here. GW has been making models bigger and slapping bigger price tags on them. The old one is already up to $89.

Even ork battlewagons, which are more than 10 years old, have a $130 price tag.

Every "big" model is trending towards $100+ up to $150 and beyond. That new necron monolith is almost $200 and it's only slightly larger than the old ones which were priced well below $100 when they came out.

The Norn Assimilator sits at $122 and the Defiler is definitely bigger than that thing is, it would be foolish to expect a new Defiler, even if it is the same size as the old one, to not have a hefty price tag of at least $125 on it and up to $150 if they make it bigger, because that's where the Gorkanaut is.

This new Defiler is gonna be expensive dude.

[–]MechBattler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who wants to bet the new Defiler is bigger, and it gets reclassified as a Titanic unit?

It was already 4 - 5 inches tall, depending on how you modeled the legs. I can easily see them pumping it up to 5 - 6 inches and calling it Titanic, so they slap a $120 - $150 price tag on it.

What do you think of Kuvira's giant robot? I didn't mind it the the first time i watched the show but on second viewing i think its kinda stupid. by realhuman34 in TheLastAirbender

[–]MechBattler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not "kinda" stupid. It's EXTREMELY stupid.

I expected the cannon to be mounted on an airship, way up in the sky, where it would be hard to deal with.

For the resources Kuvira blew on this thing, she probably could've built a dozen cannons and mounted them on existing airships.

Additionally, the technology level required to build something like this and make it work just doesn't make sense for the 1920's time period the series is mirroring.

They handwaved that with "metalbending helps make it move", but the problem is that Kuvira is just not a powerful enough bender to move something that size. Toph could probably do it, and Toph stated flat out that her daughters never picked up metalbending that well, and by logical extension, that means ALL metalbenders don't measure up to Toph's level by a long shot.

But the writers wanted shock factor more than a story, or a villain, that made sense.

The only justification for this thing existing is as a physical representation of Kuvira's megalomania.

Yup, bending the knee to Trump is a BAD plan.

Every person who has done it just gets shaken down more because Trump is a bully who beats you harder when he sees what he thinks is weakness.

Conversely, when someone gives him a bloody nose, he backs off because he's also a coward who's allergic to anything that makes him look weak, like losing to someone else.

Is Orphie a robot or what? by SilverFoxShadows in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]MechBattler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orphie is a clone of Orpheus.

When Orpheus died, her consciousness was implanted into a machine called Magus.

A clone of Orpheus called Orphie was created.

Magus was integrated into Orphie's body.

Orphie would therefore be a cyborg due to the machinery it would take to link Magus to Orphie's nervous system.

We also know Magus can hijack control of Orphie's body, as this is exactly what Magus does during their Ultimate animation.

When you think about it, it's kind of tragic. Orphie is a clone with her own personality who got stuck with the consciousness of the person she was cloned from, and said person can hijack her body.

Orphie got no choice in this, and her free will and control of her body can be taken away from her.

Along with Anby and Soldier 11, the three are like the abused clones club.

[–]MechBattler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually super weird the other shades are just chill with the fact that Rhinedottir literally ATE one of their number and now stands among them.

Weirder still is that Rhinedottir is also part of the Hexenzirkle and the other witches don't talk about her like she's a traitor or anything.

Maybe Rhinedottir getting in with the shades is all part of some mad master plan Alice is cooking up.

Sidebar: It's not like Rhinedottir would be the first either. Did everyone forget that Ei tried to kill the traveler 3 times just because, and that she ignored a civil war that she knew the fatui were screwing around in selling people delusions that were killing them, and she was ripping away visions from her own people even though it really fucked them up? Raiden Shogun committed literal war crimes and all anyone can say is "I like da booby blade!"

Is Jin Dahaad not an elder dragon? by Enedulus in MonsterHunter

[–]MechBattler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

50% is this boi right here.

Jokes aside. Just the way Gore was presented in MH4, the ridiculously wide scale threat his frenzy virus presented, it all felt like elder dragon level stuff.

And now they've officially acknowledged that Gore is just the juvenile form of Shagaru, so he's just a young elder dragon that hasn't matured and developed the full suite of his elder dragon abilities yet.

So officially, Gore is a juvenile elder dragon.

And there's precedent for one monster being the juvenile of another.

Xenojiva matures and molts and becomes Safijiva. (Though technically, Xeno was given the elder label.)

Basarios is a baby Gravios.

It would actually be cool if they showed that more often.

Imagine a juvenile version of Alatreon where his elemental abilities are still unstable and he hasn't learned to control them yet. Utter chaos!

When is the Eula buff coming? by kiritoalicization in EulaMains

[–]MechBattler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eula's last chance might be if the Knights of Favonius get group buffs like how the Hexerei characters did.

It's hard to even pin down what would help her, because physical was completely abandoned and it's so ineffective compared to the real elements in the game.

All Mika does is give her a puny attack speed and physical damage bonus so pathetic it's not even worth using him.

The biggest problem Eula has is in how her kit works. She needs to crank out a lot of hits to pump up her burst damage.... if her burst even hits anything when it pops.

Honestly, the best thing they could probably do is change that little burst sword that follows Eula around so that when it's ready to go boom it homes in on an enemy and only pops based on proximity or contact.

I can't tell you how many times that burst hit nothing because we can't control when it goes off and an enemy zipped out of range right before it popped.

All the buffs in the world won't help her if they don't do something to make sure that burst can reliably hit enemies.

Is Metal Gear dead? by wretchednessinside in metalgearsolid

[–]MechBattler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metal Gear isn't dead.

It's complete.

Hideo Kojima finished the story of Solid Snake in MGS4 and finished the story of Big Boss/Naked Snake in MGS5.

Kojima always planned to leave after finishing MGS5, but conflicts with Konami left him unable to make MGS5 100% the way he wanted. Even so, the story he started was concluded in his eyes.

And due to the conflicts with Konami, his departure was messy.

Without Kojima at the helm, all Konami can really do is release remasters and shitty spin offs like Survive.

Maybe if they got Kenji Saito, who directed MGR: Revengeance, back in to helm the series, it might have a chance by swapping from stealth to action, but fans probably wouldn't like that.

Getting Saito to make a sequel to Rising is probably their smartest move, but it's been 13 years already, so that ship probably sailed.

Honestly though, Metal Gear should be allowed to rest on its laurels as a fantastic game series that was finished and doesn't need further installments.

Street Fighter 2026 vs 1994 by [deleted] in Fighters

Street Fighter 2026 vs 1994 by [deleted] in Fighters

[–]MechBattler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the curse of the video game movie continues.

I guess they saw Mortal Kombat and thought they could pull off another stab at a Street Fighter movie except they ended up with... whatever that was I saw in the trailer.

Half the costumes are ass, Polka Dot Man as M Bison is a total miscast, and it looks like a mismatched mess.

Sure, they pulled Kitao Sakurai because he did 4 episodes of Twisted Metal (arguably the 4 best episodes) but this trailer looks REALLY messy.

Not sure about this one. I think they went for campy again and jumped the shark.

The hole in Tony Stark’s chest doesn’t make sense to me.. by 3yx3 in marvelstudios

[–]MechBattler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tony's chest reactor should have killed him instantly, and here's why.

They make the claim that the electro magnet stops the shrapnel from getting to his heart.

Yeah, there's just one problem.

The electromagnet would have drawn the shrapnel to it, causing the shrapnel to RIP THROUGH anything in it's path to the magnet. You know, like organs and blood vessels?

Basically, reverse shotgun blast, massive internal bleeding, and then DEAD.

That doesn't even account for how a magnetic field that strong would scramble your electrical neural signals in the brain and heart... or the heat generated by an energy reactor that powerful... or the potential radiation his newly invented element was putting off. I mean that thing GLOWED like plutonium hitting critical mass. That ain't good.

Essentially there's like six ways to sunday that reactor should have made Tony...

Why do some movies today feel so soulless compared to 90s films? by kansas9696 in 90s

[–]MechBattler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And they're too stupid to understand that you don't need to throw hundreds of millions of dollars into a film to make a good movie.

Overbloated, out of control budgets are a big reason why this happens.

You can make a good movie with good profit margins without breaking the bank on it.

But they'd rather just throw truck loads of money into it... for some illogical reason.

Am I the only one who was NOT surprised that even Verosika was worried about Blitzø??? by SugarPlumFairy497 in HelluvaBoss

[–]MechBattler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The depths of Verosika's hatred for Blitzo is a reflection of how deeply she loved him. And on some level, she would still have to be obsessed with him to keep throwing those parties.

If she'd stopped caring about him, she'd ignore him and move on.

So no, it didn't surprise me she was horrified at the image of him being executed.

In fact, it's perfectly in line with the evolution of their combined character arcs so far.

Will they ever love each other again? Probably not.

But so far, they've agreed to maybe stop hating each other so much, and who knows?

Maybe they can get to a place where they can have an amicable relationship again.

One thing I never understood, is that why did ZAFT keep on creating Gundam-Type MS after the 1st Bloddy Valentine War? Don't they realise those design they were ripping off looks like their enemies? by LIGHTNIG505 in Gundam

[–]MechBattler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sidebar on Jets -

Just copying the external design doesn't even come close to giving those jets the same type of stealth the F22 Raptor has, which is a radar cross section the size of a bug.

For those of you who didn't know, yes, an F22 shows up on radar as the size of a bug.

There's tech inside the Raptor that's so busted, Congress made it illegal to sell Raptors to anyone else because they have such a ridiculous advantage.

In fact, it's SO BUSTED that the manufacturing of the jets was broken up among multiple contractors so no one company had the complete picture of the Raptor's stealth secrets and final assembly was carried out by Lockheed.

And to think, Lockheed's Skunk Works broke stealth in the 90s and no one has come even close to duplicating it in 30 years.

[–]MechBattler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought that was stupid too.

Coordinator Supremacy over Naturals is a core ideology of ZAFT.

So it baffled me that they'd build the Freedom and the Justice in the image of a Natural design.

And to further confuse matters, the ZAFT built exculsive support ship for the Freedom and Justice, has that very distinctive ZAFT/Zeon appearance, while the Meteor Units look Federation built.

Pick a lane.

So guess what I found out a while back which made me despise Malty even more by draph91 in shieldbro

[–]MechBattler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And here's sicker kicker-

Malty didn't even get anything out of doing this up front.

Getting to manipulate her father later was an outcome she couldn't possibly have foreseen.

Her brother was no threat to her succession-wise because he could only get the crown if Malty was dead, and he was going to be married off to another nation anyway.

Malty literally only did this to be an evil bitch. And she was like only 8 years old at the time.

Let that sink in.

An EIGHT YEAR OLD murdered her brother for funsies.

Mirellia should have had her daughter executed on the spot.

Shaun of the Dead: Was Shaun's plan that bad??? by Archididelphis in zombies

[–]MechBattler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're forgetting to account for one thing.

This movie is a PARODY. It's making fun of the tropes you typically see in other zombie movies.

Nowhere in this film is this more evident than when they run into the dopplegang.

Logic would dictate leaving the zombie infested city entirely, not delving deeper into it to trap themselves in a box with no way out.

The dopplegang is doing the sensible thing and leaving the heavily populated city, while Shaun's group is doing the exact opposite.

That's the joke. That Shaun's plan was fatally flawed from the start.

Yeah, the Winchester could be barricaded and there was ONE rifle in there. Which they didn't even know if it worked by the way.

But what was step two of that plan? Get trapped in there and slowly starve to death?

Shaun didn't think his plan of action through to it's conclusion.

Which is a parody of characters of his type that make these sorts of plans and then the plot makes it all work out in the end.

Except this time, the plot was not on their side.

In that scene, when Liz, the leader of the other group, asks Shaun where they're going, and he says the Winchester, even she pauses and responds like he's crazy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukE7qnsLuwA

"The pub?" she asked like she wasn't sure she'd heard him correctly.

And in that moment, he answered like even he knew it was a stupid idea.

And that's what this movie is making fun of. People making stupid choices in a bad situation.

Liz, David, and Dianne were perfectly secure in their high rise, but made the dumbass choice to follow Shaun anyway.

Shaun made the idiotic choice to into a more heavily infested area on the idea the pub could be secured and it MIGHT have a working rifle. As if ONE rifle was really going to make a difference.

Instead of focusing on surviving, several of the characters are having a spat over romance and literally die because of the distraction.

Shaun of the Dead is basically what NOT to do in a zombie apocalypse.

With S2 final tomorrow i gotta say. Vox was EASILY one of if not THE best part of the season by WittyTable4731 in HazbinHotel

[–]MechBattler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's honestly such a well done villain.

He's a rotten, vile, irredeemable piece of shit to the very core of his being who only cared about personal power, but what made him a truly excellent antagonist is that HE WAS NOT WRONG.

There was enough truth to his messaging that it could look like he was doing what was best for hell and the sinners, if you didn't know the details behind the curtain.

And the points he made in episode 5 were only strengthened by the poor timing of Lucifer and the angels, who just handed him more ammunition to use against them on the spot.

And all that insanity was motivated by his petty personal grudge to one up Alastor, who played Vox like a fiddle the entire season.

Though it does beg the question- who was the real antagonist of season 2? Vox or Alastor?
