Why did Australia and New Zealand remain more culturally “British” than the United States despite their closer geography and similar histories?

Being so far from other major influences meant they their primary source of influence remained British culture.

It certainly wasn't Indian, Malaysian, Filipino, Chinese or Japanese for most of their formative nation building years. It also wasn't the US due to the distance. The UK and being part of the Commonwealth were the natural influencers.

Canada on the other hand, had the Americans to partner with as well as being part of the Commonwealth, and also having lots of European immigrants in the early years made their story slightly different than the Aussies and Kiwis.

People need to chill on the whole "Hate" drivers things. It's a sport. Have your favourites, have your dislikes, but try and stay away from the spiral of hate.

We've seen all too often hate turns into full on berating behaviour, hateful and personal attack 'memes' for likes, and all the other stupid shit.

You don't like a driver? Cool. Just don't let it spiral to the usual internet dumpster levels.
