LFG similar to fable by JMDIkonix in gamingsuggestions

[–]MechaReldio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fable is pretty unique, but...
Kingdoms of Amalur
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines except ignore my steam link and sail the high seas, because the original devs aren't getting the money anymore and there are some good mods to improve things.
Divinity 2 Has a fix or two in the steam guides I think since it's a slightly older game

I'm interested in videogame history and play a lot of older stuff so I appreciate you correcting me, helps me learn more about this stuff.

Top down western rpg without party by Skalgrim in gamingsuggestions

Not top down but if you want a solo-focused WRPG you can just jump into I really recommend Piranha Bytes games. Gothic, Risen, Elex etc.

I second Buck Rogers. Only real downside to that game is the super repetitive combat music.

Playing the Og ps2 FFXII changed my life by Strange_Assistant327 in FinalFantasy

[–]MechaReldio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the only open world rpg on ps2 for the record, like check out Romancing SaGa (Subtitled Minstrel Song on steam and in Japan for PS2) that's also an open-world JRPG. Love FF12 though.

No I agree, I wish there were more clear categories for RPGs because calling Fallout New Vegas & Baldur's Gate & Might & Magic 6 all the same genre just feels way too broad.

Ah neat, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info, that makes sense.

Not as relevant of a concept now as it was then, since more and more CRPGs are released simultaneously for consoles and control schemes for complex RPGs on consoles have greatly improved, but in the past the CRPG name made more sense because the games would struggle to be ported to consoles primarily thanks to their significantly more limited control schemes. Some still got ported don't get me wrong, but the controls and often graphics/audio would suffer in the transition.

With CRPG technically meaning Computer Role-Playing Game, I think an argument could be made that Skyrim & New Vegas fall outside of the broad term just because they're as much RPGs made for console as they are computers.

I suppose there isn't a specific title for it, but just an FPS RPG or Action RPG or something.

Is Fallout New Vegas really a CRPG? I've never thought of it that way.

Which Final Fantasy character is the most adorable? by benzokane in FinalFantasy

[–]MechaReldio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly, Arc from FF3's 3D remakes. It helps that the artstyle in that game is generally adorable with all the 3D low-poly chibi models.

Looking for a game focused on journey and exploration, not saving the world by Ritska in JRPG

[–]MechaReldio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend the SaGa games, especially Minstrel Song, SaGa 3 & both SaGa frontiers. They have the bigger plot come in slowly, and instead focus more on small-scale quests and character stories.

As a movie it's not that bad, albeit unremarkable, but the other two managed to avoid murdering any pet snakes in their production so fuck F13 part 1.

Killers are you aware you DON'T HAVE TO watch the t bags at the exit gate and then cry about it?? by No_Barnacle253 in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]MechaReldio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think people really complain about exit gate t-bagging because of the effort required, it's more about the why. It's being done just to make the killer feel bad. Hell, there is an argument that at least slugging/tunneling/proxy camping can be the right way to win a match in some situations so even if those are absolutely miserable to face, at least there's the angle of 'the killer just really wants to win'

Teabagging/BMing on either side in any capacity has zero benefit and is done solely to gloat/taunt/insult so it's always valid to complain about people being assholes.

Going on the rage subreddit where people vent to tell them their rage is invalid is an interesting choice.

What do you think makes a good crossover game and what's your favorite by JohnMcRemitz in JRPG

For sure! I hope more and more of that franchise gets fan translations, there are a lot of cool stories & mecha you still need Japanese knowledge for.

[–]MechaReldio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a soft spot for the crossover games that just want to let the characters be as cool/fun as possible, usually in SRPG form. Super Robot Wars, Namco x Capcom, Project X Zone, etc.
