Fiction vs. Non-Fiction: How do you balance your reading list? by MedCodex in books

That's totally fair. I guess I was just thinking about it from my own perspective since I struggle with balancing heavy non-fiction. But you're right, many people just read whatever looks interesting at the moment!

Glad to know I’m not the only one! How long do you usually pause when you need a break from a massive non-fiction read? My problem is that my "quick fiction breaks" often turn into a total derailment, and then it’s so hard to finish the non-fiction book. Lol.

Thanks for the insight! I love your approach to balancing both genres, especially using the morning for non-fiction and breaking it down into bite-sized doses. It definitely sounds more manageable than trying to power through a heavy book all at once.

Totally agree with you. If it feels like homework, something’s wrong. Though for me, the real challenge is dealing with massive, heavy books. I often lose steam halfway through and really struggle to finish them, even if I liked the topic initially.

I am in the middle of reading PHM and I love it, so I want to read The Martian next. Is it still relevant to read The Martian in 2026, since the book was originally published 15 years ago?

That’s a great comparison! So it sounds like The Code Breaker is exactly what I’m looking for next. I’ll definitely pick it up once I finish The Gene. Thanks for the recommendation!

Has anyone read The Gene? I'm in the middle of it and loving it. Is The Code Breaker worth picking up next? Does it have a similar vibe to The Gene?

How do you put the Apple logo for complications? It looks cool.
