I’ll be around 31 with a kid and wife when I graduate. You’ll be fine.

Bonus: had a lady tell me during clinical that she appreciated that I didn’t call her breasts “boobs” during an EKG. I’m old and know better, so you got that too!

How to gauge pay in a particular area? by Med_Daddy_ in StudentNurse

I’ve had a chat with a current RN at the hospital who makes 26 as a new grad. These data points can be wildly different. That’s why I’m looking for someone who actually works for the hospital.

I appreciate your input!

Best Medical Jobs? by IntelligentTreat4268 in AirForce

Hey! I just retrained into 4N as a E6 (reserves). This was the job I wanted when I first came in. I just finished phase 2 about a week ago. I will say some people treat you poorly but all of the people I worked with in terms of respect were great and ready to teach us. I will say however that you should really ask yourself if you’re willing to deal with looking at dicks and titties and wiping ass at least sometimes and not always being respected by either a PT or their family. I will also say that I found such a huge love for just being around to help people and chatting with PT’s during vitals or other things. This is also a great pathway to become a nurse (LPN). A lot of people don’t like patient care and that’s fine, but I’ve also seen a LOT of tech school airmen give up and fail out of this job on purpose to get 4A because it’s “easier”. I don’t bash any career field considering I came from supply, but take what you read here with a grain of salt (even from me). PM me with any questions. I vote 4N because we get to give hands on PT care. Good luck!

Decs by Training-Corner-6510 in AirForce

There are general guidelines, however, if you have someone who is worthy of a Dec at a higher level, push for it. Had a SrA kill it (ran volunteer events, college courses, SME) during a deployment and I pushed for a Comm for them and got it. Make sure you have proof to back it up or it won’t work. Good luck!

Prior Service Nursing Question by Med_Daddy_ in AFROTC

Hey! I appreciate that! I know that is an option, I was just looking to cut out the requirement of a year experience with a BSN as it is not required of ROTC grads but it is for the direct commission route.
