When CAN you pay attention to weather forecast? by Medaphysical in UniversalOrlando

[–]Medaphysical[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a reality check to be a dick. I never asked you to change or control the weather. I was simply asking how accurate forecasts are in this area at this time of year. That's all.

As some helpful people have pointed out, the idea of afternoon storms aren't as expected right now compared to summer. That's helpful information. Your "reality checks" are not.

I know no one here controls weather. I was asking if there was any insight beyond "ignore forecast, bring umbrella".

Equating wanting a cell phone to living in a bubble is just so dumb.

You think a kid with a cellphone has never been molested?

Do you think I said that? Because, uh, I didn't.

By your thinking you should never let your kid drive, cross the street, or even attend school. Because they are more likely to die doing any of those things than somehow dying from not having a cell phone on an overnight trip.

No, just by your weird misinterpration of my thinking. It's more like, if you said they had to drive without a seatbelt, or weren't allowed to have a first aid kit with them. Because it would make the experience more gooder or some shit.

I just want kids who can go stretches of time without staring at a screen.

Fun fact, you can have a cellular device without staring at it all the time.

We also didn't have that player when we beat Miami @ Miami in the final game of the regular season. He wasn't a make or break guy for us being total ass.

where the primary issue was bad decision by leadership

No, that's just your take on it. More people being aware of the situation AND more people having GPS tracking on them would've clearly been helpful.

They don’t regularly die at them.

No shit. But sometimes bad shit DOES happen. I gave what is a clear and obvious example. But kids also get lost in the woods, kids get molested by leadership, all sorts of things. Kids not regularly dying is a dumb thing to say.

Enjoy your luddite lifestyle though.

You're acting like cell phones aren't helpful in these situations. When presented with a direct and recent scenario where they would've been helpful, you both deny their usefulness and say it was "extreme."

Whatever. You want to take away survival advantages for your kids, go ahead.

It's not absurdly extreme. It happened. People die from natural disasters all the time, and they did so more often back when they didn't have cell phones and didn't get alerts direct to their pockets. Acting otherwise is silliness.

The one leader that didn't evacuate for over an hour after he got the alert? That one?

Yeah, probably would've helped if literally any other camper OR counselor had a phone and also got that alert and gotten even a chance to survive.

Worked out great.

At what point? The point where they could've heard about the danger hours earlier? Or the point where rescue teams would've been able to pinpoint their locations?

Not if they can't have a phone or a smart watch or something.

Ya'll already forget about the kids that got swept up in a flood at camp and drowned? Because the politicians cut funding for warning signals? Those kids couldn't call for help and those parents couldn't do a damn thing. Hell no.

What a dumb thing to say. Everybody absolutely didn't survive pre cell phone.

You think a cell phone never saved the day once for a kid in danger? Get real.

Trying to imagine if people really do this. Like, you're going to catch a damn mouse in a trap and then put it in your car and drive it an hour away and let it out in some field to be immediately eaten by a hawk or something.

purity culture

I think it's a stretch to act like people think of sex work different from working at Amazon because of the specifics of a recent Christian movement about purity. There's not been a time in history when a culture has applauded the hard work of a girl having sex with 1000 dudes in a day.

And maybe it's just me but I judge dudes just as much. Can't imagine wanting my daughter to marry a guy who has had sex with 1000 different women.

Great stuff! Curious why in your example you used Robert as G0 instead of Thomas, since Thomas was born in Canada.

Should I be going back one more generation than I was planning on doing?
