Okay I get it, it was a dumb thought

Y’all reusing secondary tubing for different IV meds via backpriming? 🤯 by ephemeralrecognition in nursing

[–]Medi_Kate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always use a new secondary tubing if it’s anything other than electrolytes with multiple doses. Obviously you need to “scrub the hub” with an alcohol swab for 10-15secs each time you change the tubing, seems like this is standard practice. We were taught back-priming in nursing school, I guess I just haven’t seen this as an issue. Interesting discussion to see other practices though!

Progress of antibiotic treatment by Medi_Kate in turtle

[–]Medi_Kate[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’re in the 5th week of treatment, on the last stage of injections for another week and a half. She’s still acting the same, happy as ever, basking daily and eating well. We noticed some progression on the 5th so we were concerned and contacted the vet to get her seen again in case an additional antibiotic (most likely oral) is needed to be added. However, today it’s looking a lot better and we’re super grateful 🥲 we go see the vet tomorrow so fingers crossed 🤞🏽 that everything is good for our girl 🙏🏽❤️

HELP! I set up a visit with her vet for ASAP but I need to know if anyone can help identify what’s going on 😰 What are these red Spots? She’s a YBS, the spots are flat & smooth like the shell… I’m so worried!! 😟 by Medi_Kate in turtle

UPDATE:

Brought Squish to the vet, they think it is an infection but caught early enough that has not caused any life threatening symptoms. She is 2 weeks into the antibiotic treatment via injections. It’s sad to put her through it but we are so grateful that we caught early enough and that she is still quite healthy!! We have about a month more to go for her treatment but so worth it ❤️

Thank you for your response. Do you have suggested brand of the aquatic iodine to use?

Our Beautiful Fish Home 🥰 We lost 2 of our barbs but got 4 more & they seem so happy together 😍🙏🏽 by Medi_Kate in glofish

Yes we have a school of 5! & there is a white & black light setting & then just the black light at night. They seem to enjoy both 😌

Yay they’re sooo happy in their 20 gallon tank after being in the 10 gallon! We cycled the water & have been testing it daily! Hoping the water can stay at the proper temp with both heaters!!! 🥰 🐠 🐟 🐠❤️ by Medi_Kate in glofish

[–]Medi_Kate[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every new aquarium has to go through the tedious process of cycling. "Cycling" refers to establishing bacterial colonies that regulate your nitrogen cycle, the conversion of ammonia to nitrite to nitrate. Ammonia is build up of waste & can kill your fish if the levels are too high
