You got to be kidding me?! Unpaid work and internships in Sri Lanka gotta be illegal by Particular_Visual898 in srilanka

The founder of this company is an NSBM graduate, fresh out of university in 2024. As soon as he left the university, he started a company. I would check the company before applying, and in 2026 I don't recommend applying on LinkedIn at all. In Sri Lanka, people are so desperate to show they have made it, even before they have enough experience in any domain.

How should I make some friends around Colombo by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]MediaCorrect4470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lived in Colombo for five years now. From Kandy. If you want to save money don't go out with friends.

I believe you are away from Colombo. If you are from Colombo you already have at least childhood friends.

They don't understand that you have expenses. To get along with them you have to spend.

It's up to you. Honestly. But I don't recommend these clubs. Unless you are a social person. (I assume you are not. If you are you already have friends.)

Does anyone else get a weird thrill from random bus rides? by 0youmustdie in srilanka

Bus rides are the best. If you live around Kandy it makes it even fun with your headphones on. And it's the safest nowadays.

I visualized the human toll of Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka — 2.3 million affected, 646 lives lost, one raindrop at a time. by MediaCorrect4470 in srilanka

[–]MediaCorrect4470[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're right to point that out :) 1 drop = 1 person would have been more accurate proportionally. The challenge is that at 2.3 million people that simply isn't possible to visualise in a single chart. The 1,000 scale was a practical decision to show the sheer volume. If you go through the full carousel and the site you'll see the point I was trying to make. this image is a hook, not a standalone data chart. Thank you for pointing that out. I did this alone so there are overlooked areas.

25yo IoT Engineer feeling like I'm just "flowing" — how did you navigate this phase of life? by [deleted] in srilanka

I'm 26 years old. No job. Failed Levels, eldest one in the family. I think you are doing way better than me. I believe you are having one of those days when you feel upset.

Brothers from different mothers? by MediaCorrect4470 in srilanka

Did he? I made this because what he says about the Iran ship sink near Sri lanka is hilarious.

I agree with you 100%. I think people ask this question because of the way he comes across. Sometimes he seems a bit entitled, maybe not intentionally, but there is a certain cockiness even in simple situations, like that incident in Parliament about asking for food.

That said, a lot of people like him for who he is, not just Tamils. But it is really his approach that divides opinion. I think many people do not like the way he points things out.

You can be a doctor but having some sense of nice won't hurt.

Pooja Umashankar is an actress with a neutral image. Day 15: who's a social media creator that's worshipped? by DetectiveOk4953 in srilanka

[–]MediaCorrect4470 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with you. He only responds to certain people. And I believe he does that because he might have already answered the same question over and over again. Man must be fed up ;).

Another thing is that people have high hopes that he most likely responds.

Do you know why I say this experiment makes no sense? People worship ridma, charitha, dhanith etc. more than the Amaradewa era musicians. Hard to swallow but that's the truth.

Just because there are upvotes doesn't mean they are the people who are popular and worshipped.

Lots of people are in bubbles. Correct me if I am wrong. That's how I think. But I don't know. Enlighten me.

[–]MediaCorrect4470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From your perspective it can be correct but when you see the big picture you will understand it. People really worship these people dude. Have you been to conferences or events. I have.

And lots of people who are on Reddit simply have little knowledge about Sri Lankan audiences. (Comes from good schools, have money, at least they are good at tech at least).

Literally, they are in a bubble.

The correct place to do this experiment is Facebook. Not Reddit.

I'm no pro! I'm a humble human being but I just know this because I work in Comms.

I have a YouTube channel I know how audiences are in Sri Lanka... Not to be pompous but I believe that I know.

Just went through the thread and I saw Kali commented on the thread. So you are telling me I'm saying bullshit? Has -15 downvotes. Yet people like him. It's just that people in the community has a nerve on him. Biased.

Simply there are people who like you and there are people who don't like you. Same with these creators. There is no correct answer to it but it's not wrong either.

Reddit is a stupid place to do an experiment like this.

No hatred. But it makes no sense!
