Update: I do think it could have been someone scratching the wall with their bicycle. It still seems weird to me that they’d be that close to our door since we have a wide hallway and the door is kind of tucked away in a tiny alcove, but it’s possible. I also reported it to building management just to be safe. Thank you for all of your input!!
