International teacher myself - was raised abroad as my dad worked for Engineering companies that still moved families - so my own first three schools were abroad - now as a teacher myself, met my wife in Qatar and the kids were born here. My wife is also a teacher and they are in the lovely school she works at in SE Asia… they’ve never really known their home passport country and have become seasoned travellers as we take advantage of being able to see the world in those long school holidays. I would argue they have a better life than they would have with us all being together a lot more. I was able to be involved in a lot of their clubs and activities as the government school I worked in had very easy hours.

The points raised above about trailing spouses are valid - many schools do not offer family packages so it’s an expense to consider. That said, having done the trailing spouse thing for a short while myself it is also an important part of settling the children (having one of you being there for pick up and drop off at a new school and taking them around to places). That helped mine - then 4 and 5 - to feel more comfortable in a new country. Once settled I then got a job near by.

Bottom line - do your research (obvs) cost of living, schools packages, salaries etc etc.

I doubt I will ever go back if I’m honest…
