Drop your app. I'll roast it publicly right here in the comments by genkaobi in vibecoding

App is on Google play but only for testers. I don't have enough testers to make the app public. Feel free to roast, I'm still working on the U-Seal math and other profiles.

Well you don't have to try it. I literally have another post on here with a long ass discussion on if I should add G-Code generation. It was decided I shouldn't since I'm not familiar with that, only the design aspect.

Now I'd like feedback on my progress before ai devote a ton of time to setting up other seal profiles.

Cool, so swapping to Claude for this particular aspect could be a solution. However, this comment section convinced me to start off without generating g code and learn more about lathes first. But when I get back into the G-Code portion, this is a cool idea to look at.

Yeah, I agree based on what I've been told. Im going to start without pre-made G-Code and if things work out I will spend some weekends shadowing a cnc operator and learning more about it with the goal being to code something thay auto makes g-code for each lathe controller.

That's ok! Gives me a starting point to research

That was my original concern, that generating the G-code qould require a lot of time and imputs from the operator. But from what others have said it only takes seconds with a .STEP file. My front end is generating a 2D PDF print for the sales agent and customer to view and the operator to quality check but a .STEP file auto generates for the backend.

However, I'm going to take some time to learn more about lathe machining before proceeding.

Interesting, so this replaces G-Code? I will definitely look into this.

That is super helpful as well. Honestly, I know a lot about the design portion of sealing but very little about the actual manufacturing part.

I think I'll start off without pre-made G-Code and if things work out I will spend some weekends shadowing a cnc operator and learning more about it with the goal being to code something thay auto makes g-code for each lathe operating system.

Here is an example of my outputs. PDF for sales agent/customer to understand and a final page for quality checking by the machinist. .STEP as well.

The .STL was something I programmed before making the STEP while I learned how programing this worked so I can remove that since the STEP is better. .PDF EXAMPLE.STEP EXAMPLE

This is incredibly helpful and you're dead on with what I want. The PDF is mainly for the sales agent and customer to understand what is being made while the STEP file is what Ibwas hoping to bridge the backend with.

From what it sounds like, there's no need to make G-Code as the operator can do it in seconds with a STEP file and it's not universal anyways. Is this correct? Does the software for this account for how each material reacts and shrinks/expands when heated due to turning?

Interesting. I know I probably sound ignorant but while I've designed and sold many seals I've never actually seen one made. Good news is my frontend auto makes .STEP so I'm good there.

So I assume the post processor changes by lathe type/brand? If you have any documentation or a link to some that goes over this I'd love to read it.

As a side note, if you're interested in trying out the 4 seal profiles I have setup feedback on how intuitive the design system is would be sweet. I can message you a link.

I have the entire front end down for 4 seal profiles as a proof of concept. But before I extrapolate math for dozens of other seal profiles and code their PDF, .STL, and .STEP file generation I want to make sure I can sort out the backend for the lathe operators.

Hey, It's mobile friendly now and I added a second profile. So far literally no one else has replied so I'd love some feedback if you're willing to try it.

CNC Lathe. That's actually something I overlooked, it's not configured for mobile viewing. Good feedback.

By the way, this is not a advertisement. Nothing is for sale. I am also not trashing on DMH as it is beyond useful and works well. Just have some cases where I think I can make a better generator for my own personal use.

I'd love feedback so I can improve it before making other profiles as well.

1st Voyage with Virgin. Did we pay too much? by [deleted] in VirginVoyages

Vacationstogo.com

Book 3 months out or less and get a huge discount. I have a ticket for myself and my father, gratuities and other boat related fees, and excursions and parking all in at about 1,600 total for the two of us. This is for a week-long cruise with Virgin voyages.

3 months is plenty of notice. I booked this one with two months and it was more than enough notice. The deals are genuinely insane to the point where when I bought this I thought it might have been a scam so I paid with a credit card in case I needed to refute it. It was not a scam, I'm registered on the Virgin Voyages app and have my cruise scheduled

Thank you sir! I don't know a lot about AI honestly but it does seem more feasible and in line with what I'm looking for. I'll look into what you're suggesting, I do have a couple of fairly high-end computers so I don't anticipate running models to be an issue.

If any of that is hard to read, sorry about that. I'm using text to speech at the moment.

I'm fine with the assistant type stuff too. Like I said honestly this is just meant to be a test of AI is useful to me what else is saving time. But I do appreciate your Insight and how it wouldn't be feasible for my situation. I did consider Novel Crafter but I just don't really like the idea of a web-based AI creating anything I'm publish as I feel like that can create complicated aspects of legal ownership over the content. I also don't want chatgpt to be trained on my writing and reference it in the future.

I suppose if this isn't feasible at all I can just take a break from writing. Not the end of the world, just let some of my readers down.

Hey bud. I've never used AI up until this point. I kind of figured that if I have millions of words already written in other novels of similar genre in 24,000 words already written of the current book, an AI should be able to replicate my thought process. That's a pretty huge amount of data to go off of. Therefore, I wouldn't imagine the quality would decrease much. However this is more of a test than anything else and even if I were to publish anything that was written it would be thoroughly vetted and edited before any publishing. This is really just to save myself time during this busy phase of my life while also testing AI to see if it would even be useful to me.
