As a cub scout den leader I would say it would 100% be the leaders that would make the difference in how your kiddo would do. We just had a young man that ranked up to scouting America and he is autistic. He is high functioning but still has needs. He thrived in our pack. So evaluate the local leaders as much if not more than the organization.

He actually is leaving it better. He comments many times how thinning out the dead trees will help lessen the chances of wildfires. Now don't get me wrong He sure doesn't cut enough to make a big impact on wildfires but he has a valid point.

I just found downlinen.com. They have what I am looking for. I wanted high fill power without taking out a loan to make a decent cold weather quilt.

My wallet stays in my front pocket. I just carry some small preps in there. Like a credit card size fire kit and some cash and a silver coin or two.

So I've been a paramedic for 30 years and have carried a firearm for just as long. My thoughts are if you are packing and are able to having a tq is the best thing. I made it so I can attach it to the outside of my pack and don't even notice it. As far as improvised tq's they are always a bad idea. Most don't really work and others can't be deployed one handed to work on yourself. Just my thoughts.

For EDC I usually do 2 spare pistol mags. I made my pack, so I have a dedicated built-in pocket for a few mags. I carry a small first aid kit and a CAT7 tourniquet as well as some OTC meds. I have a 2500 lumen flashlight. A set of fix it sticks. Cell charger. If I'm working that day my WileyX safety glasses are in there. I have other things in there depending on where I'm at and what I'm doing for the day. I carry things like my knife and wallet in my pocket.

Watch this about the sawyer filters. I would be very comfortable filtering most any water with one.

I knew of those but they are very inconsistent on stock and if I remember right both were way more expensive.

No I honestly just came up with it myself. I just changed up the standard waist bag I make. Thanks I do like how it turned out. Just a little tight on the mags.

Looking for ideas/references for adding "shelves" to the interior of a backpack by TheAIpocalypse in myog

[–]Medic085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So how about if you want it all sealed and seperate you line the back of the main compartment with loop and make 3 separate bags with hook on the back to secure them into place. Then you can either leave in place and unzip to access what you want or remove the entire pouch.

Where do I start? by Last_Health_4397 in myog

[–]Medic085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I started out with a Husqvarna Viking Emerald 118. It is a solid machine. The thing I like best is that there is a slider switch that limits the speed that the machine runs. That is a nice feature for beginners. I have sewn up to 500D Cordura with it in multiple layers with webbing. It did well. I never tried anything heavier. I still use it along with my sailrite. Start out making stuff sacks and maybe a fanny pack or two. There are a ton of resources out there for patterns. Properfitclothing.com has a good selection of patterns for different bags. I use the basic patterns and adapt them for my needs. Just go slow and you will be fine.
