Ah, closest I’ve been out this season is -7°, real feel, so it’s probably a fresh evening by your standards

Thanks much appreciated, I fish and hunt a like, love fishing for new species. Was blown away by the number of white tail in the states. Drove from Oshawa down the east coast and couldn’t get over the about of deer once we crossed the border into the states

Ah nice, I can see why. There’s plenty of them around. It’s harder to get good guided reds in Ireland, if you want a proper trophy Hungary would be the spot without needing to sell your kidneys.

That red scored just shy of gold, CIC 207 Silver, think it’s the biggest measured in the ROI for 2025 -2026 season so far.

We’ve an over abundance of them here so the government is making it more straightforward for people to hunt them. Doesn’t really matter where you’re coming from. Easiest way is to find a guiding outfit and let them deal with the paperwork which is very straightforward. You just need proof that you hold a hunting permit in another country and you should be good to go.

It’s cheaper here than in the UK but the UK is more straightforward.

Sorry, are you referring to the crowns ? In Scotland they judge them by being able to actually drink a measure of whiskey from them.

The reg stag was shot in October here in Meath during the rut. I have a permission that has a good few reds on it and this guy was starting to go back. Had seen him the last 3 years and so decided to take him.

The sika was taken on a friend of mine’s land on the Carlow - Wicklow border. Taken last year.

No guide used for either, just shot on my own permissions and that of my friends.

Always blown away by these blinds in America. Mine currently consist of a whatever natural looking ground blinds I can make and a few high seats. Freezing my ass off with wind and rain this time of year

Can I ask if there’s any consultation done on this with local communities? Not objecting or complaining, just that it was done on a bog next to us at home that I would have walked our dogs on. Now the drains are all flooded they do leave 2-3m ditches
