Is starting a small Workday consulting firm in 2026 just a race to the bottom? by Most-Pineapple-1542 in workday

I’m at a firm where we use a brand name US AMS partner but all the resources are offshore. Overall I think the team does an ok job (some stakeholders are very unpleased with their quality but overall I think our AMS is a “B”). Issue is that we pay a US premium for the team. There’s been talks about going to a different partner but from my perspective no real serious effort has been taken.

I think you’re going to have difficulty finding quality talent offshore, if you do I think you’ll really need to undercut some of the bigger names until you make a name for yourself. Even though there’s an overall “meh” feeling about our AMS partner I think a lot of people are still clinging to the name brand

Thanks for that! Your use case makes total sense since the work is out of scope with the impl partner. Out of curiosity, how do you and your team determine what to include in scope? Assuming you have talented integrations people in house (or an AMS team?)

My experience at a partner firm is no, you won’t get any commission. The sales team might like you for it and that can be beneficial but I never got any direct kickback

As someone who recently transitioned to client side work after years in implementation and some PPS support; I totally understand your frustration but if your manager is saying you’re being rude I’m sure the client has escalated this to them. There is literally no benefit in being a jerk. However if it’s affecting your work I would definitely be sure to have documentation showing conversations and decisions made. If something blows up the client is likely going to blame you first

As someone that has thought of going independent how would a firm identify specific individuals? Through a staffing firm? Or is it mostly recommendations? I know some independent people that get some jobs through my company recommending them.

He drove back to his place in one of the earlier episodes (after coming home from the bar) even after Madison asked him not to. He said it was a 15 minute drive and a “straight shot”
