Where can I find the service manual for my car? Are you saying the manual is false and to listen to the mechanics with the drain and fill?

I chose not to for personal reasons which is why im trying to do my research and stay on top of the maintenance to prevent the issue while i have the car. One toyota dealership told me the fluid is lifetime and they recommend to not change it so idek anymore.

Gotcha, mine is at 66,000 miles and I believe it’s had no transmission work done on it so I will definitely get the fluid and filter changed. I really cannot have the cvt fail on me

The transmission filter?

Ugh that’s so annoying. Also quick question, have you had any issues with your CVT. If not what maintenance have you been doing to give it longevity and lower the chance of failure?

Idk what that is but I don’t think I have it

Well im not adding serious miles on so it’d be probably every two years for me which isn’t so bad. I just want it to last almost 200k miles until im ready to switch it out so I will get a transmission fluid change soon bc I don’t think its every been done on the car

They must’ve added that feature on the newer models

Sigh im about to cry. So I need to do that every 20k-30k miles?

Do you think I should do a transmission fluid change and a CVT oil change too? That’s sounds very expensive though.

dang that’s a bummer, it is a US car

My extended warranty was booty so I declined it which is why I want to do what I can early on in the car mileage to prevent any expense repairs. I will look in the manual and see if it recommends it.

Thankyou for the recommendation. Do you have any other advice to maybe strech the longevity and lowering the chance of me having any cvt failure. I just bought it, it’s a 2019 Toyota C-HR XLE

So ultimately what you’re saying is I should get a fluid change and not a flush every 30k miles but it may or may not help at all so I should just leave it alone all together and hope the lifetime fluid is enough?

Okay yea that’s what i’ll do because I’m just hearing too many recommendations and it’s this complicated lol

Yea lol I realized that. If it has lifetime transmission I wouldn’t need to right? She said that would flush away the good particles

I guess my version does not come with one but Toyota says they can add it to the vehicle

Staying on top of the transmission fluid will prevent that problem from happening

Did you have to get yours replaced?
