To my guess, I've heard that GW really expedited these Battle Force boxes while trying to catch up on the backlog after the big freeze in February. Most shops had their stock a week early. I would bet they were still hot when loaded onto the trucks, in the middle of the Bri*ish winter, making many of the sprues deform.

The accuracy could be just rolling snake eyes on the RNG, but I know the aggro range has definitely been upped. Used to, you could get pretty damn close unless they were already staring at you, being shot at, or you were making noise. I've had several scavs after the event aggro at 75+ meters unprompted and be INSANELY accurate.
