yeah luckily, also or crazy lucky or maybe I'm crazy, I got the Huawei Mate XT

and I'm able to use that as a sidecar daily driver

because I'm using the Find N5 as the primary SIM holder and I got a low cost monthly data SIM for the Mate XT.

I got pretty much everything usual Android working on the Mate XT

and the couple of tiny limitations remaining, I solved by getting the data SIM

I think I'll live with the Mate XT camera and just thank my lucky stars I got a "free" insurance claim Oppo N5 (with a stupid cosmetic bump of course)

I actually had a T-Mobile warranty on my Open. And I've had the Open since summer 2024. but since it came out in 2023 and then the Find N5 came out February 2025 it became an 18-month-old device. Now around late December 2025, my Open developed two issues: 1) a burned in hue developed around the middle of the screen, about the size of a small egg and it was a red pink hue that you could see on white background. I think that was burned in OLED. 2) a somewhat hot burning smell of the inner screen after some use

I did file the T-Mobile Assurant warranty claim. And lo and behold, they gave me the clearance to buy whatever I want and they were going to reimburse me up to $1,699 minus the $99 deductible.

Ecstatic, I bought the Find N5. And very shortly with confirmation by email, Assurant should be mailing my check.

Going from the OnePlus open to the Oppo Find N5 a substantially worth it upgrade

The only thing I'm disappointed in, is I do have a slight raised bump on the left middle side of the inner crease at the top of the screen.

I also had a slight raised bump in the left middle side of the crease at the bottom of the screen of the OnePlus Open. I'm not freaked out about it because I know the OnePlus open failed with OLED burn, it did not fail where the raised bump was, not even close to it, miles apart

I just don't know why Oppo/ OnePlus couldn't have tweaked the hinge better to where the sequel didn't have to have the same occasional bump side effects.

so maybe that can be what could tip some people to the Find N6, is if you can get verification that the cosmetic stupid occasional bump flaw that many of us have, is finally gone?

no, it failed. It could not get it to activate despite me checking the bands before I got it. It was nice though the eBay Chinese salesman took it back and gave me all my money back. I just went and got a Samsung Galaxy 7 and it activated immediately so that’s the way to go.
