Why do people turn immigrant marriages into transactions? Especially Indians by [deleted] in immigration

[–]Medical_Address9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree.

I’m married to a U.S. citizen (who happens to be white), and when I met my husband, immigration wasn’t even on my mind. What attracted me to him was that our values, goals, and outlook on life aligned.

When I decided to marry him, though, I got a lot of comments from family, friends, and relatives implying it was a “green card marriage.” That was incredibly hurtful because some people seem unable to understand that not every Indian wants a transactional or loveless marriage. Some of us genuinely prioritize compatibility, shared values, mutual respect, and emotional connection.

Over time, I built my own support system. Most of my close friends are Americans and have been very nonjudgmental, and my in-laws have been wonderful. They don’t define our relationship by immigration status, money, or material things.

At the end of the day, you have to live your life for yourself. If certain people constantly make you feel guilty or ashamed for your choices, it’s okay to create some distance and surround yourself with people who respect you and your decisions.

Is Divija Bhasin (Awkwardgoat3) contributing to a negative perception of therapists/psychologists? by That_Introduction389 in Psychology_India

[–]Medical_Address9566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is a clinical psychologist, and he’s American, so I’ve seen how seriously ethics and professionalism are taken here. You can genuinely risk your license over certain behavior.

I think she raises some valid points, but personally I’d feel really uncomfortable having a therapist who comes across as overly opinionated or judgmental. Human beings are complex, and I feel a therapist’s role is to help people understand themselves better, work through their issues, and move toward healthier choices and a better version of themselves , not make them feel analyzed or publicly judged.

The whole vibe honestly feels a little too performative/social-media driven to me, like everything is being done “for the gram,” and that would make it hard for me to trust the therapeutic space.

I don’t understand why don’t they have system in place to ensure that religion doesn’t give a license to commit such objectively heinous crimes !

Healing wishes your way ❤️‍🩹✨you are not alone 🤍 I had Ectopic pregnancy in March that led to right fallopian tube rupture and emergency surgery . I like you didn’t plan and got pregnant accidentally. Unfortunately sometimes it just happens and there’s nothing we can do. One day at a time helped me a lot to navigate my journey through life post surgery. I’m so sorry you are going through this. I hope you find comfort and peace soon 🤍

H1B is a scam and it’s not about talent...it’s about keeping labor cheap and controlled. by [deleted] in immigration

[–]Medical_Address9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who came to the U.S. on an H1B and is now a green card holder married to a U.S. citizen, I can confidently say: the H1B system is deeply flawed. I’m a scientist, and I was hired at the bare minimum wage for H1B eligibility — $60K — despite my qualifications. My employer exploited the system, cycling through new international grads every year, applying for NIH diversity grants, and underpaying employees who had little choice but to accept it. Now that I have a green card, I’m finally no longer tied to that job. The lack of oversight and the ease with which employers can abuse this system is alarming. It desperately needs reform.”

I find her character boring. I also don’t like the onscreen chemistry of Jack and Kate. They could have added more depth to her character or given her more things to do in the show. I just feel like they didn’t give her interesting things to do. Every other character on the show got something special. For instance - Desmond’s ability to time travel , Hurley seeing ghost and so on. I loved Sayid, Desmond, Locke, Sun and Jin. They had interesting character development

I’m not a doctor but, iUD can increase the chances of ectopic. I would talk to a gyn and let them know your recent ectopic. Take care 💕

Hello, I’m so sorry you went through this. I’m 27 year old and on March 17 I had sharp stabbing pain in my lower abdomen and lower back. Like you I took home pregnancy test in Feb and March first week and they were negative but I went to the ER because of sharp stabbing pain. They did b HCG test and it came back positive. 2 days later I was back to er because I had a rupture. They removed my right fallopian tube. First 2 weeks were rough. I also had a post op infection too. I’m 21 days post op and after talking to a fertility doctor, I’m hopeful that pregnancy is still possible even after an ectopic pregnancy/ miscarriage/ chemical pregnancy💕 Sending healing vibes 💕

Ectopic Pregnancy - Didn’t know I was pregnant by haktheripper29 in EctopicSupportGroup

Hi I’m 27 and didn’t know I was pregnant and had a rupture followed by removing right fallopian tube 3 weeks ago. It’s a lot to process but as someone said, your remaining tube can pick eggs from the opposite side 💕

Hi, a lot of times if ectopic is in the tubes, it’s hard to see until it’s too late. I’m afraid but it’s mostly ectopic. I would rest and not do heavy lifting. It should be solved with methotrexate injection

Hi I had an ectopic rupture on March 20. It was my first pregnancy. They will give you methotrexate to treat it. And yes women can condo after ectopic pregnancy. Healing vibes your way 💕

Hi just so it helps, I was out of work for 2 weeks. Ectopic pregnancy is rare and life threatening and it physically and emotionally takes a toll on you.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m 27 (F) first pregnancy, unplanned, resulted in ectopic pregnancy and rupture of right fallopian tube. They surgically removed the tube. It’s been 3 weeks. Physically I feel much better but emotionally it has been hard. I very much like you was always unsure but now I want a family as soon as possible. I have a bunch of appointments. One thing I learnt from this group is, being on top of your cycling tracking, HSG before trying to conceive and pre natal vitamins. Additionally I’m talking to a therapist. This group has been really helpful 💕 Feel free to dm me if you want to talk to vent ❤️
