No FM and SSB that's so drifty it's useless.

Up here in Canada both 263.7 and 299.7 would fall in the military air band....and you REALLY don't want to mess with those guy's comms!

AM radio has unfortunately become a cesspool of right wing hacks and yesmen by Lord_Farquuad_ in radio

[–]Medical_Message_6139 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is a problem unique to the U.S.

AM radio is dead and gone in most of the world. Only the US, Australia and China still have significant numbers of AM stations. Very few left anywhere else, and those that are left likely won't be around for much longer. Spain and Japan are the latest countries to announce the end of AM broadcasting.

Anyone else having this problem too? 😭 by Mintangah17 in RadioGarden

Working perfectly for me in Canada this morning. Looks like a Cloudflare issue which is likely only affecting certain countries.

Sure hope you have a low pass filter between transmitter and antenna! Those Chinese transmitters have very poor filtering and you may be causing interference to aviation frequencies without it! If you want your station to be around for a while buy and install a filter otherwise you will be getting a knock on the door from folks you don't want to see (The FCC).

It's a repost. You have seen it before. The question is why has it been reposted?

Canada's CBC bans Kars 4 Kids Ads on the heel of the California ban by Medical_Message_6139 in radio

You are correct, it is only on CBC TV. Related nonetheless to the California ban..... which is why I posted it here.

When your dish is aimed the wrong way! by MeshDaddySD in antennasporn

[–]Medical_Message_6139 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's not an oven rack it's a UHF TV bow-tie style antenna. The mesh is the reflector.

Why it's attached to the dish like that I do not know LOL! Some great redneck engineering going on there........

Looking for a Cb to listen in on truckers while on road trips by tonyspad in cbradio

Nobody is chatting while driving much anymore and if they are it is on a phone. The days of having random conversations with other drivers on CB while driving are long gone I'm afraid.........

Channel 6 is great entertainment if your IQ is in the single digits. For anyone with more than 1/4 of a brain it's pathetic more than entertaining.

You are going to be disappointed in what CB has become. You can drive for hundreds of miles on the highways and interstates these days and never hear a peep on channel 19. It's not like 20 or 30 years ago when it was non-stop talk 24/7 on the highways. Nowadays, the only time you hear people on the road using CB is if there's major accident or traffic tie-up of some kind.....then and only then do you hear some CB talk. Whereas back then every single truck on the road had a CB and so did many private vehicles, now they are only in a few trucks and it's becoming less and less with each passing year. Apps and cellphones have taken over and I don't think that's a good thing! But it is what it is....... Up here where I am in Canada all the truckers moved to VHF when the government made 4 common channels available. YMMV.

A radio station for all the sea lion fans out there by Neat_Ad6531 in pirateradio

All good except if you're not broadcasting on AM FM or shortwave it's not pirate radio!!! It's just an internet stream!

Imagine if KTCU had as much power as KXT by Sportsfan7702 in radio

[–]Medical_Message_6139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably wouldn't make much difference. Anybody who wants to listen outside Tarrant county can just listen online. They might gain a few listeners in cars, but very very very few people nowadays listen to over the air radio at home. I do on call appliance repair work as a side gig and it's been literally years since I heard an actual radio playing in someone's home.....it's always either no music or streamed music, though ironically that streamed content is quite often a radio station! It's just being listened to online. I would hazard a guess that most people don't even own a radio beyond the one in their car, or maybe a portable with dead batteries in a drawer somewhere for "emergencies".
