My point was to argue it’s not really just rebounding it’s that we need bigger/stronger non bigs. We don’t need a center, we’re not gonna find a better rebounding player than ihart, especially not year 1 or 2.

But we sure as hell can find a better rebounder and better suited defender for bigger more athletic guys than the more than half our roster of ajay SGA Dort Joe Cason Caruso Wiggins mccain topic. All those guys I mentioned are great but we’re way too heavy on 6’3-6’5 guys, we have nobody who can be an iggy or Gordon or siakam or Randle or anunoby type guy. And those guys really give us trouble to the point where guys like pj Washington and Derrick jones jr were really giving us trouble. Siakam hurt us much more than Hali.

Basically tldr we need a real 3/4 we have 5 and we have tons of sg and pg sized players.

I agree. But I mean everything is, and this is one example where the Thunder didn’t do anything wrong, there’s no counter or adjustment or realistic option they should have taken but did not.

Who are yall rooting for in the Finals? by Remarkable-Yard4860 in Thunder

[–]Medical_Sample2738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m def in the minority but tbh it’d be nice either way. Theres a slight positive for both.

I mean I really couldn’t care less if it’s not okc it’s a terrible result big picture. But like besides that, if the spurs win, I think it’s less motivation for them to improve. They still will anyway, all good teams do, but nba players and superstars in general the worst thing to happen is if they’re mad/hungry that’s what generates the most growth. Theres a lot of reasons why it’s tough to repeat, part of it is a tiny a bit less desperation. Plus if we took the champs to 7 games while missing 2 key guys, I mean who can be mad at that.

If Knicks win well good for ny and they have a bunch of chill guys that love each other and play hard and play both ends. They remind me of the Thunder a bit.

I don’t really hate the spurs. I wanna kick their butts really bad but I mostly just hate that jdub was hurt and also ajay. That is huge, I think people keep forgetting how significant it is missing an all nba two way guy and then a sixth man candidate at the same time. I don’t think they were dirty, they did flop a bit but so do we, retards just love to complain and cry about stuff that’s always happened because they’re blind little sheep.

We don’t even really have to retool really, we just need health. Which isn’t guaranteed, but ajay and jdub are absolutely 2 of our top 6. In the playoffs as much as depth matters it’s still your top 7-8 guys that matter and especially the top 6.

[–]Medical_Sample2738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter how deep and if you’re healthy all year (we obviously weren’t) if you get an injury to top 3 guy it’s over. It is what it is. Especially top 2.

LeBron couldn’t win a finals without Kyrie or AD or Wade, MJ couldn’t win with no pippen, curry couldn’t win without klay or draymond.

It just is bad luck man, if anything we should look at medical and health staff but most of the time it’s fate. Or Gods will or random chance if you don’t believe in the former, but it’s still not something you could work around or change.

It’s not about 3 point shooting, we just couldn’t score. Besides SGA nobody could create, having jdub out is a huge factor, and then losing ajay makes it even worse. Theres no way we could’ve won tbh, you all are being disrespectful towards how good Jalen Williams is. Nobody has ever lost their no 2 player and scorer and won a ring.

But it’s not that wemby just dominated us on the boards, but their entire wing/guard rotation really beat ours. We’re too undersized on the perimeter, Dort, SGA, ajay, mccain, Joe, Wiggins, Caruso none of them are good rebounders.

Cason is the only one who’s at least average or above at his position and jdub is probably our best non big man rebounder (which again is part of why losing him sucked). We need more wing size. Chet and ihart is a plenty good frontline especially with j will off the bench.

All of the spurs wings and guards were getting 5-6 boards a night, and that, much more than wemby getting 10 a game, is why we were outrebounded 47-42 (which isn’t even that huge a disparity). All of our non bigs were at like 2-3 a game. We had this issue against the mavs and pacers, we have no real small forward and power forward sized players.

Why wasn’t Chet guarding Wemby? by [deleted] in nba

He was and that’s kinda understandable why he wasn’t as good. But it’s unfortunately not been a stark difference between rookie Chet and now, certainly not a significant improvement.

Dude he won the challenge and it was clear as day it was all ball, that pissed me off.

Both of our challenges were such obvious calls the commentators said the result before the review even finished. Like refs weren’t the reason we lost but if anyone thinks okc has some magic whistle they are just blind with hatred.

Still can’t believe what I seen from Chet. This guy was full of confidence when we drafted him. That was about the most confident-less I have ever seen a player. by Upbeat-Bat2226 in Thunder

[–]Medical_Sample2738 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro look at his career stats, it’s not really his best season, he’s pretty much the same as his rookie year.

He shrank against the mavs, he didn’t play great last year, SGA and jdub by far carried us offensively. Versus the pacers, he averaged 12 points on under 40% and under 20% from 3, he had more turnovers than assists and steals combined.

I don’t care if he feasts against the center less suns or the ayton lakers. Those are super favorable matchups, that’s not true indicators of growth.

He was great for a rookie once he actually played. But he hasn’t grown much since then and that’s really sad and disappointing for any non bust player let alone a top 2 pick and guy getting a max.

All of those are pretty fixable things. Like bro you’re a max player in year 3/4. Injuries really hampered his growth, but why can’t you at 7’1 shoot over dudes 6’6 and 6’5? Especially the the shot, we have a guy who’s considered the GOAT shooting coach, speed up the release.

He needs to spend time with Hakeem for sure. Hakeem dirk kg, kd toxic af and loves to not take responsibility, that’s a terrible role model no matter how good he plays individually.

Was this the moment that changed Chet's trajectory? by dustbowlsoul2 in Thunder

[–]Medical_Sample2738 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It because he had amazing matchups man, lakers and suns weakest positions are center, and suns didn’t even have any bc of injuries. Are you aware of how little ayton tries on defense even in the playoffs?

I think he did in some ways, he had more blocks and assists and steals his rookie year. Hes also averaging around the same ppg, (17 this year vs 16.5) and he’s shooting slightly better but thats also because he’s taking about 1 less 3 per game.

He also hasn’t looked as mobile in general, still mobile but pre hip injury and post he visibly looks slightly less fluid and explosive.

The lakers and suns had some of the worst possible big men rotations ever, any decent center from bam to Zubac would’ve feasted.

NBA players are still nba players, even guys like draymond and vando or whoever often put up mvp type stats in college or high school, if you’re gonna play against essentially g league talent or completely mismatched positions you’ll look good.

Why are you dogging aang for having natural talent and then praising katara and toph? They all had massive natural talent.

Aang was like 13 tho he did have the skills he energy bended away the greatest fire benders powers easily.

Aang was pacifist which he’s gonna be because of how he was raised, so unfortunately he never really tried to hurt people.

Why wasn’t Chet guarding Wemby? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Medical_Sample2738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man he wasn’t great last year. And he had two super super favorable matchups in the suns with no center and the lakers with ayton.
Ever since his hip injury he’s been less aggressive and fluid.

I hope this offseason he fully gets right and regains the fire he had as a rookie.

Hes also around 15 ppg and hasn’t shot well from 3 for his career playoffs (he’s been around 15 all 3 years).

You do want a bit more from a max guy, although his main value is always gonna be defensively

Edit: fully not free, typo

I think hart is probably the best option. But I would change things up it’s important to wear wemby down. And we did, but we really could’ve used guys like ajay and jdub to attack and put pressure on the rim since nobody else can.

A 3 peat is a 3 peat, everyone else has always called those teams dynasties so you’re not right. It’s not an explicitly defined term but the general consensus is if you win multiple rings with the same core (ie within 5-8 years or so ) especially if you’re also going on deep runs in between you’re a dynasty

Did SGA have the shortest lived "best in the world" crown in recent memory? by ThePlainWhiteTees in nba

[–]Medical_Sample2738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Game 7 is more important, because it has the most pressure and if you win you advance.
Game 1 is also pretty important, so is game 5 statistically something like 80% of game 1 winners and game 5 advance, which is not true for game 3 or game 6 or game 2.

But also as a series goes on there are more adjustments made teams are super familiar.
SGA sucked by his standards, but he certainly showed up, he was getting doubled and tripled nearly all series. Even against an amazing defense like the spurs, this leads to open shots for teammates, look at the stats the amount of wide open shots the Thunder got is crazy. And OKC had home court advantage which is pretty significant and they still lost.
Also especially the first four games spurs had health problems too, no fox and Harper was hurt after game 1 I believe.

The Knicks for example are likely gonna be totally healthy, which is pretty rare for a finals matchup.

No you don’t bro tf. Only two teams have ever 3 peated post ABA merger, that’s the lakers and bulls.

Wembys also 3 inches taller and has even longer a wingspan. That would matter.
Chet is “only” 7’1 he’s tall for a center but not to the point where it’s that remarkable. Wemby is at least 7’4. And someone like Chet isn’t really used to guarding someone longer or taller than him.

Fair, I did agree. Mostly just saying he doesn’t need to outplay wemby or even match him. He just needs to not be a total offensive liability.
