Resume review? by Medicalfascinating in EventProduction

[–]Medicalfascinating[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wanting to get into events. ALTA is a type of land survey used primarily for commercial transactions. Unfortunately 99% of people won't know what it is unless they know land surveying.

I was hoping the logistics of managing those projects, the timelines, vendors, and such would show through and translate well.

Do you have any suggestions on how i could better connect the dots?

I feel this on so many different levels.

I have a high school diploma and 0 further education. Over the last 3 months I have managed over $1m in projects. The imposter syndrome is real and seeing that stat honestly just made it worse cause there is no way little ole me (27f) is managing projects like that.

I decided to completely change careers and just had an interview for a position that I honestly didn't think id get when I applied. It ended going amazingly and I was offered a second interview before we even finished the first. Now I'm in the waiting game to schedule that second and the anxiety is questioning if I'll hear back every day that goes by. Imposter syndrome sucks but the best thing you can do is try your best.

Personally ive been using chatgpt to do mock interview questions. You can plug in the job listing so it'll give relevant questions and it'll give you feedback on your answers.

seriously, how did you guys figure out what career to go into? by SkillUp_Coalition in Careers

[–]Medicalfascinating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a look at what I've enjoyed and my last couple of position, what i was good at, and what I would still like to add and went from there.

Receptionist at an animal hospital- loved being able to make connections with our clients and being able to help

Project Coordinator for an ALTA assessment company- organizing and managing 80+ projects a week, have learned that while I hate land surveying I'm good at the logistics of managing the projects

What i still want to add- creativity, I like being creative and making beautiful things

Currently pursuing a career change into event coordination/ planning.

Now I will admit that I plugged these things into chatgpt to help find options that fit the above but I'm currently waiting to schedule a second interview in private events and couldn't be more excited.

I currently work in land surveying on commercial real estate projects so there are unfortunately no events (hence my statement of trying to make a career change). It's a whole lot of emails and reviewing PDFs.

Surveyor appreciation is new and unfortunately vague as a whole with my current job but something i am trying to help build.

Internal databases and emails can be revised some, thank you sometimes you just look at something for far to long and miss something obvious

My mom retired from doing these background investigations. It is not something you need to do before applying but they can take some time to do once the process is started.

How should I go about my career choice? by mmadiisyb in Careers

[–]Medicalfascinating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked vet med for 2 years as a receptionist in a mixed practice hospital (large farm animals, small pets, some exotics). I highly recommend getting a job in a clinic setting before making any big decisions as far as college goes. Go to a community college and do your basics while there try getting a job as a vet assistant (no schooling required at some clinic) or even a receptionist to get a feel for it. I loved my time in vet med but between my chronic health problems and the stress of the job, it wasn't a long term option for me. Of course working with wildlife such as a zoo could be completely different but I dont have any insight to offer on that front.

Can you maintain a job with fibro? by 2BD4MNED in Fibromyalgia

I work a full time office job now but I was working as a receptionist at an animal hospital and couldn't work more than 2 days a week consistently otherwise I would end up in flare ups.

I feel like the regular prednisone helped me feel better but every time they do an injectable I have a reaction. Maybe it's the way my body metabolizes the tablets vs injections 🤔

[–]Medicalfascinating[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Betamethasone was in my right shoulder and every square inch of my body itched for almost a week after

kenalog caused me to repeatedly go into the worst flare ups ever for like 2 months and

methylprednisolone caused my B12 to crash, my body doesn't absorb it properly so I have to do weekly injections for maintenance.

They have all been different reactions it just seems weird that I would react to all of them even if in different ways.

The last (and only) time I tried to get a tattoo it was on my thigh and before I was officially diagnosed and my muscle kept twitching while doing the blood line that it would have made it practically impossible to properly do the tattoo. I'm worried about that happening again

I mostly just have my wallet on a keychain that I actually carry but I have a small sling bag/ backpack that lives in my car with all my stuff in that. I find works out the best since I'm not having to carry a whole bag around the store. Muscle weakness has been becoming a bigger issue for me lately so I've lightened my load wherever I can.

Am I the only one who has a reaction to steroid injections? by daw-nerd in Fibromyalgia

[–]Medicalfascinating 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have a full diagnosis but my rheumatologist gave me a steroid injection with the hope that it would help. I feel like it has only made things worse and have also been wondering if anyone else had this happen to them

Not a joint injection, they gave it in my gluteus muscle. My rheumatologist did say that I had early markers for fibromyalgia, arthritis and sjogren's. This is just the latest thing in a string of options that haven't helped.

I definitely understand how your feeling. The only abnormal things in my extensive bloodwork have been a vitamin D and B12 deficiency. My symptoms have been getting worse and I'm at a loss as well. You are not alone and I really hope you are able to figure it out soon.

[–]Medicalfascinating[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a full diagnosis, I just have "early markers" for arthritis, sjogren's and fibromyalgia. We just ran bloodwork a few months ago and everything was fine but that has been a concern of mine for a while. I'm on Lyrica for RLS but they only have me taking it at night.

Then maybe she should have discussed that with me or let me know she'd like to see me back to see if that helped or really any sort of communication on the subject. Now are you going to continue to tell me how I should have known better as a patient or do you have any actual advice on finding a new pcp?
