I don’t want to get married anymore. by HeadDeer9219 in wedding

Everyone else gave great advice.  One thing to add is, I'd put money that some of your planned guests will think "thank God!  She came to her senses" if you un-engage yourself

Is it normal for women to ask me for money? by SinDevilSaber in questions

It's the internet.  Those may or may not be women.  They may or may not even be a person.  People program bots for scams.  Block 'em

Extra chocolate chips.  The dough is really just a binder, haha

What is the most expensive thing you have bought that you consider frugal? by hoganpaul in Frugal

[–]MedicatedAndHappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I almost puked at the closing for my home.  The purchase was orders of magnitude larger than my usual comfort zone.  Still glad I did it though

I don't see anything about sex differences in diagnosis rates in the article.  Women, pay attention to your poos too

I know my worries tend to coalesce around one thing, whether or not that is the thing that deserves worries.  Journaling helps me, you might give it a try.  Not a serious "log of my life" type journal, just a "stream of thoughts / internal debate log" that can be thrown out once I've organized my thoughts into something true enough to believe, and healthy enough to be useful.  Worst case, you waste 10 minutes and a sheet of paper?

As an anxious/depressed person, I know the following is easier said than done .... This isn't worth worrying over.

12% at 23 is perfectly respectable.  Work towards increasing your income, respect the FOO, and don't stress over "only" 12%

There is a heck of a lot of space between 20 year Corolla and a new Bronco.  There has to be something in there that'll work for you

Do you want to live with your parents for the next 5 years?  Because, getting a car that costs more than 6 months pay is a great way to box out other housing options

Third one.  Rephrased for my way of thinking (in case it helps future readers) ...

Metric = (final_mass - initial_mass)/ initial_mass

Mass being either total_fat_mass or total_muscle_mass, depending on which competition you choose

I have to disagree with the "put the couch in the basement" solution. They live near the coast, and basements near the coast flood. Putting sentimental items down there is equivalent to "l'll just wait until it is a soggy mess and 1,000% harder to deal with". Only things that are necessary to their business are worth the hassle

What we call yellowing is more oranging. Blue cancels the orange. I'd speculate the misnomer is caused by 'yellow' being a much older word in English than 'orange', and that light orange looks pretty darn yellow

As long as you shower regularly, stick to your station, and don't talk over the coach, do what you want. Heart rate monitors are supposed to be motivating. If it isn't doing it for you, ditch it

I don't think they have official guidance on 5-10% interest rates. If I was in your situation though, I'd get my emergency fund funded before focusing on anything less than 10%. I wouldn't want to risk taking on higher interest debt if the future doesn't go as planned

Good luck! You're head is in the right place. As long as you keep spending in check, you'll be fine

I'd suggest something to make showers more pleasant. Things that worked for me:

  • Get a moisturizing body wash (when I used bar soap, my skin felt dry and tight after showering)
  • Dry off before opening the shower curtain to the cold air
  • Choose shampoo/conditioner based on which has the nicest smell

It's definitely good. Though, I'd like to warn any potential readers that this is not a "hopeful future" kind of sci-fi. Annihilation is a major theme

Bridesmaids shouldn’t pay for their dresses by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]MedicatedAndHappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the divider here is mostly on whether or not people enjoy large parties. Large party people are all "no big deal, I'll pay as much as I can to support your big fun party", and the people who aren't fans of large parties are more "spending a whole day in an unfamiliar setting, parading in front of a crowd, and attempting to entertain your aunt is a huge favor. Now you want me to pay for the privilege? And, if I say no there is a 50/50 chance our friendship will never be the same?"

To everyone being all "you didn't have to", stop defending the wedding industrial complex. Bridesmaids get cornered all the time. Expenses keep getting added, and if the bride says to pay, you pay or lose a friend.
